He killed somebody by just trying to keep them quiet by covering their mouth. He also cannot keep any type of secret because George told Lennie to not tell anybody about their plans about moving, and what Lennie did was just go off and tell somebody. What I think should happen, is for him to get sentenced for a few years in prison and then after institutionalized for another few years.
