After reading this book, I think I have learned how important student self-reflection is, and how I will try to implement some of the author's questioning techniques as well as some of their strategies such as the Application-Process-Future model. I also think it is important to have students make connections to their learning and allow them to guide the topic to what is interesting to them, as in the example of the Middle School teacher with the Robot wedding. I am going to try and find some lessons that students are curious, confused, or connected to and try to have them guide the direction of the lesson. The other aspect I need to utilize is making connections to students' background year-round, not just icebreakers at the beginning of the year.

I want to allow my students to make better connections to the curriculum by allowing them to explore topics that interest them or that they have a connection or emotional response too. Hopefully this will self-motivate them into problem solving designed solutions and allowing myself to act as more of a guild through their educational process. Which I believe will yield better critical thinking skills for my students.
