Suddenly I knew Kyle must not figure too prominently in the social order or she never would have asked him to deliver the note" (LaBan 128).

This quote has magnitude because it shows the readers another picture of how Tim views himself. He is self-conscious, but he is also aware of how people view him. He is not trying to be someone he is not. This quote also shows how Tim is trying to get the lay of the land at Irving. when talking about Kyle. It also proves Tim is not immune to judging others, as they often judge him.

How do you think Vanessa will continue to talk to Tim if she is concerned about her social status? How do you think Tim will react if this continues?

This is saying that something bad happened on the trail which could possibly be the tragedy that keeps being brought up. Whatever happened on the trail obviously wasn't good and he didn't want to think of it. It kept coming to his head which means it had to be important to either him, Irving, or people he knew.

Do you think Vanessa and Patrick will keep dating? Why or why not

As soon as he saw me approach, though he didn't meet my eyes, he leaned into her and started kissing her aggressively " (LaBan 152).

This quote has magnitude because it proves that Patrick really does see Tim as a threat. (LaBan 137).

This quote shows magnitude because Daisy was trying to ask Duncan for help, but he wouldn't let her in and listen to her. It shows that if Duncan would have let her in, and helped her, then maybe the outcome would have been different. He feels awful about not letting Daisy in, but he can't take it back, but he does apologize. This proves that Daisy really liked Duncan because she would not go to any random person and ask for major help like in this situation.

Do you think Duncan and Daisy will become anything more than friends?

" A tragedy is a play or literary work in which the main character -- that would be the tragic hero-- suffers greatly and is brought to pain. Usually suffering and ruin come about because of the main character's own flaw or weakness." (LaBan 150-151)

This quote has magnitude because it explains what they are writing and what a tragedy in a literary sense. It foreshadows that an event is coming up that can be called a tragedy. My prediction is Tim the main character suffers because of his flaw or his love for Vanessa. Vanessa is his weakness and it makes sense to predict such a thing.
Predict, will there be a tragedy in this book? If so why and who will it happen to?

" ' This is going to sound crazy. We've never done anything like this before, but how about instead of a game we have an outing?' I looked at him like he had just suggested we paint the bathroom red. 'I mean, a really great outing. A secret outing. Something that we're all in on, that we plan together.' He kept talking, but it started to sound like he was really talking to himself, working out the idea in his mind. 'Something that Vanessa will love. What do you think?'" (Laban 163-164).

The magnitude of this quote is huge because it has a lot of foreshadowing. It foreshadows an outing. Since it is secret, there will be no adults. If something were to go wrong it might turn out badly. It also says a lot about the relationship that Patrick has with Vanessa. He isn't sure what she would or wouldn't like, so he asks Tim because Tim knows Vanessa better than Patrick does.

What do you think the secret outing will be? Do you think something will go wrong? If so, what do you think will go wrong?

"Can you tell me about it?". he asked. "And I'm sorry I didn't let you in this morning. Did that have anything to do with why you're at the hospital now?". (LaBan 137).

This quote shows magnitude because what if Duncan let Daisy into his room. Daisy would have told Duncan that he needed his help. That Amanda was sick. Duncan would have helped and Daisy wouldn't have been late to class. She would have been told about the ten percent extra credit.

If Daisy wouldn't have been at the hospital, would Duncan and Daisy have kissed? Would they just have ignored each other?
