It depicts how young Steven was when he stood trial as an adult. He was originally arrested under the Juvenile Delinquents Act. This act created no consistency for the proper sentencing of youths and gave all the discretion to the judge. The justice system was blinded to the contradictory evidence in his case and his trial was unfair because they chose Steven as the offender before the y looked at all the evidence. Justice was blind in this situation and this picture hits the nail right on the head. It took over 30 years to right the wrong the Canadian Justice system created.

Firstly, the Minister of Justice could have granted a new criminal trial which would effectively quash the original conviction. Truscott would be allowed to bring fourth the evidence that would effectively acquit him. The second option the Minister of Justice had in deciding where the Truscott case could go is back to the Court of Appeal where they could decide if Truscott had a fair trial.
