I am currently a level 3 General Art and design student and have been working on this project for the past 3 months, developing and refining my own ideas collected through primary and secondary research. The main theme of this project was based around the word 'Origins' and from there I have been sourcing my own materials to support ideas and artist research. Through my development I studied my birth stone Amethyst, then looking at natural/primal ingredients, which continued into thoughts based around the idea of water and the elements, which inspired my final design. These 4 pieces all represent each element and by using materials including watercolour, ink, acrylic, glue, marbled college and fine liner pens to convey different qualities of line, texture, shape and colour they individually reflect the characteristics of Water, fire, air and earth. Personally I found this project challenging as it was the first project I have had to manage by myself, however I really enjoyed the freedom and diversity I had within the project to create and follow my own related ideas.]]> 2016-06-09 09:45:38 UTC https://padlet.com/eleanorstone1234/ybea18g261h1/wish/114190085 eleanorstone1234 https://padlet.com/eleanorstone1234/ybea18g261h1/wish/114192931 When researching and viewing many other pieces of work in places like museums and exhibitions I noticed how the positing, lighting and other factors of the surrounding have been taken into consideration. So in response to this I have also considered how it would be presented in a gallery or exhibitions type environment. Firstly because my design is detailed and each piece is only A4 size I would plan for each piece to be display about 5cm apart from each other on a white background, as any colour would distract from the small details. Secondly, I would consider the space I have to display my pieces, ideally the pieces would be placed side by side along a white wall on their own, so that the viewer could look closely at each one individually and see the detail, however if the exhibitions was space limited the pieces could be placed in a squared formation and amongst other artists work of a similar inspiration. Even though my final piece is mainly related to the elements it could appear amongst work inspired by natural materials, landscape, atmosphere, and perhaps along side artists who have also used the elements for inspiration and have tried to capture the personality of them.
