used some excerpts from this book in 110; students really enjoyed being able to think about racialization comparatively thru concrete historical examples, and it also opened up space to talk about prisons and policing structurally

My semester went well. I had a very diverse class & students really appreciated the emphasis in holistic wellness that I introduced early on. We were then able to analyze the state of emotional, mental, physical, spiritual health in Chicano/a/x activists from El Movimiento up until now. I'll see if I can link the handout I created & used. - Silvia 😊

I used this Digital Memory Collective to supplement the book Chicana Power by Maylei Blackwell and bring the historical archive to life in the classroom to help students engage deeper with the text.

I didn't attend the summer workshop but am interested in learning about it. For Fall 2023, I taught ETHN 110 and 112 Asian American Studies online. I tried to engage students virtually through a new project called the Serve the People Project, where students work in groups to imagine a community event that addresses issues in their community, and they would have to create a program and a flyer. I think it went well, but I could have planned to have students present. Here is a song that connects to the project!
