    • Explanation / Analysis:  Mr. Vossen creates the secret entrance to the annex in order to help the Franks security. Mr. Vossens’ inclination to help the forbidden jews demonstrates his compassionate and good nature. If Anne was to get caught, Mr. Vossen would be punished along with them, but this is a risk he’s willing to take.

    Analysis: Anne makes great use of connotative language when she uses words like 'boil' and 'blow' because they accurately convey her fury. The words have a cause and effect relationship that show what is bound to happen should her anger get the best of her.
