The natural resources were so abundant and so cheap that it motivated people to invent systems and machines. One example would be cotton available in a surplus and made very profitable by cheap labor, new machines, and inventions. These also doubled as an improvement to society, like how railroads were meant to transport things like iron and coal for other trains, but were then converted for people's transport as well. 

2. Food supply was greatly increased in the industrial revolution and was made a lot more accessible due to newer, cheaper ways of making food and making it easier and longer lasting for industrial workers. The population also grew, because most people had stable jobs and the ability to feed their families. Industrial jobs were also quite in demand because of the increase in machinery more factory owners wanted more profit, and you need more workers for more profit, so it became a never-ending chain
