1) Tawhid (Belief in Allah)

2) Malaikah (Belief in Angels)
  • Muslims believe that Allah’s greatness means He can't communicate directly with humans. Allah sent messages, known as risalah, to his prophets through the angels, known as malaikah, who were his first creation and always obeyed him.

3) Kutub (Belief in holy books)
  • The 4 holy books that Allah sent down are Quran, Torah, Zabur, Injil.
  • Holy books are texts that Muslims believe were authored by Allah through various prophets throughout history.
  • These holy books promulgated Allah's code and laws for those people.

  • Qada - Refers to Decree. From the perspective of syarak, it's something that Allah SWT has decided for all of His creations in terms of creation, destruction or changes.
  • Qadar - Refers to Destiny. Allah’s knowing of everything in pre-eternity, what happened and what will happen whether it's good or bad from pre-eternity to past eternity, their time, place and characteristics and His ordaining and determining them.
As Muslims, we must sincerely accept that Allah SWT has the control over everything in this world. He has the most knowledge about our futures, or what will be our futures. Everything that happens to us has been predetermined by Allah SWT.

Conditions before praying
1) Have proper intentions 
  • the intention must be because Allah SWT
2) Cleanliness of place 
  • make sure that the place is clean from any najis
3) State of purity (wudhu’) 
  • prayers won’t be accepted if we pray without having wudhu’

Applications of salah based on situation
1) Prayer during sickness 
  • sick people can pray by sitting, lying down, using their eyes or heart according to their situation
2) Jamak and Qasar 
  • Jamak – combining two prayers at one time period
  • Qasar – shortening of a 4 rakaat prayer into a 2 rakaat prayer
  • Both these prayers are a gift from Allah SWT to give ease for those in a state of musafir
