This is because the lies that the American government was giving the people had not been exposed yet and because the Kennedy administration wanted to fight in Vietnam during this time. Also on the graph the beginning shows that the red line is slowly going down over time and the blue line is staying the same. This means that before the graph that the people against the Vietnam war were slowly deteriorating over time before the big spike in 1967. Kennedy said during his ingratiation that, "...we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe, to insure the survival and the success of liberty," (Kennedy). Kennedy was a firm believer of the domino affect which stated that if one country fell to communism then the surrounding countries would as well. As a result of this mindset Kennedy wanted to put more military support into Vietnam. During his time in office he deployed many more troops into Vietnam compared to years prior as shown by the comparison between 1963 and 1961. Kennedy also moved to a policy of flexible response. This was a policy where he would not actively attack or try to destroy areas but would instead react to what the situation presented and made decisions based off of that. This is shown when Kennedy said, "Let us never negotiate out of fear. But let us never fear to negotiate," (Kennedy). On the graph it shows the ratio of black workers over time and during the JFK administration it goes up substantially. JFK also tried to lower the federal income tax and supported unions as well as reduce unemployment. Kennedy shows his support of unions when saying, "Our labor unions are not narrow, self-seeking groups. They have raised wages, shortened hours and provided supplemental benefits. Through collective bargaining and grievance procedures, they have brought justice and democracy to the shop floor," (Kennedy).
