This is an Ontario official website that talked about the credit report and the related laws, and also mention how can we prevent identity theft and avoid credit card scams. People can only pay a $5 dollar alerting service to a consumer reporting agency. This service provides verify the identity of when you’re using the credit card. Once people get the alert, they need to take steps to verify the identification and make sure it is the cardholder before process any type of transaction. Besides this, people need to avoid credit repair scams like some companies said they can remove your negative personal information like bankruptcy if you have the fee. However, this is an illegal service in Canada.

I like this website because it talked about how to avoid not only credit fraud but also credit repair scams. Compare to others website, this website shared the information that I didn’t know before, the alert service and also the credit repair scams, and these information are really useful! We all know it is very important to keep a good credit score which can impact our loan, buying a mortgage and so on. No one would like to have a bad score in our life. However, we should know that credit repair scam illegal. Usually these companies will ask your large payment and said that they can improve your credit before they looked at your report, this action is illegal. Also, remember all credit repair companies have to provide a written contract with you. If you would like to know more information about this, please click this website.

This website talked about general information about the debit& credit card fraud. It introduces some common ways of fraud like a phone call, skimming app, card skimmers. Scammers usually will call you and say you bought something and ask for all of your personal information especially your card. The card skimmers usually happened at ATM or gas station. Besides this, this website also teaches people how to protect yourself like hide your PIN, insert your car first instead of swiping when you paid. At the end of the articles, there are 4 steps of what you can do when you meet credit fraud in Canada.

I choose this website because I really agree with the way that this article provided to readers about how to solve the credit fraud problem. As this article said, when people meet a credit card fraud in Canada, we need to report it to the bank and explain how does it happen. Someone like me maybe worried about we have to pay the large fee when we get the bill. But don’t worry about it, the credit card company will lock the card immediately and will not ask you to pay the fraud. This website also suggests people contact with credit bureau because the credit card fraud may cause a negative credit score. I want to thank you for this website. I didn’t know it before! If you meet the credit fraud recently, please click this useful website and see what else you can do!

Here is a piece of news in Toronto about a woman whose credit card has been stolen and the thief used her card to spend $40,000 from Scarborough to Mississauga. Luckily, she got almost all the money back from the bank. As we know, there are lots of identity theft in Toronto now. As the Toronto police said, it would be worse once the identity theft guesses your PIN, because lots of people use the same PIN for others card or personal information. In this piece of news, the Toronto police office suggests everyone should have different PIN for each card.

I choose this piece of news on my wall because I want to aware people of how terrible if our credit card was stolen and used by someone. I also very agree with what the policeman said on this website. Lots of people like me usually will use the same PIN on our cards, mail, social media apps because we think it is easier to remember. However, it put us at a high risk of credit fraud. If someone knows our PIN, the only thing he needs to do at the next step is getting our card number which can easily found on our bill. I hope people who read this news can become more careful and try to use the different PIN or change your PIN every three months.

This video was published by CBC and it’s a TV show that the journalist went to everyone’s house to tell them their personal information has been leaked. This video introduces a scam called “lower-interest scam’’ which means scammer would pretend as a bank employee and tell them the company has a special credit card plan which has a lower interest. And all victims in this video believed that it was a call from the real bank or a credit card company. If you watched the video, you can see the scammer will ask victims to speak out their credit card number or last 4 digital SIN number to pretend to verify their identification. As CBC news data, there are 3,000 victims from just one call center. These people didn’t know they were victims of the credit card fraud until they were on this show.

This video is very useful and lets me know the scammer has lots of new ways to steal our personal information. As more and more people become cautious, the scammer has to pretend as a real bank and if you told with them, you will notice they will process almost the same thing as a bank which makes people more easily trust them. The only thing different that scammers did in this show was to ask the client’s credit card number. If you had called the real bank like RBC, usually the bank will ask you to enter your credit card number on the phone and then wait for people to help you. Even when the bank employer received, they will ask some security questions to identify if you’re the cardholder.

This is a video from the city news Toronto and happened in 2017. The Toronto police arrested two men who stole $10 minion from Canadian people and even Canadian institutions. These two men use 37 credit cards to fraud and stole hundreds of mails and they have about 5,000 GTA resident’s personal information. These two men wear flashy clothes and bought luxury products and show off on social media. It is a massive GTA fraud ring and had been broken up by the Toronto police. As the latest news, the third person also had been arrested. If you would like to know more information, you can click the video!

Although this video didn’t provide lots of useful information, I still chose it because I hope people who read my wall can notice that there are many credit frauds in our society now. It’s unfair to see the people who steal personal information to satisfies their needs. All scammers should be punished and if you notice in this video, the police officer was also warning people to protect their credit card carefully and change PIN frequently if you can. Credit fraud is not just a personal action, it can be a group, an organization, so that’s why we have thousands of victims in Toronto.

I knew some ways before I made this wall. But now, I learned new ways like buying an alert service or do not use the same PIN on my personal information account. I also learned the step of dealing with the fraud like calling to the local police and contact with my credit Bureau and also inform the Canadian anti-fraud center which are all new information for me. Last, I also realized that not every fraud could give the money back because we all have responsible for protecting our personal information.

I'll tell my family does not save any card information on the website like Amazon. Like the last month, when my mom ordered on Amazon, I notice that their system will automatically save my mom's credit card information which means she doesn't need to provide her card number when she was buying. It looks convenient and saves time, however, it is not safe and when the data leak happened, it must have lots of credit fraud at that time.

The CEO of Credit Canada said the victim of credit card fraud have to call the bank first and need to prove to the bank that it wasn’t you. The lady also said sharing the card to the family numbers is putting yourself at the risk. At the end of the video, the lady share 3 tips about avoid credit fraud. The first step is checking your credit rating regularly. Next, you need to limit the credit cards you have. Last, don’t share credit card information with anyone.

I really like this video. The video was short but very useful. I really agree with the lady said in the video. People should not share the credit card with the family number especially the kid. Nowadays, lots of people would like to use a credit card instead of cash, so when their child would like to buy something, the parents would prefer just to give them the credit card and usually the kid can just tap it without entering the PIN. However, it is at a higher risk of credit fraud, and when the credit card fraud happened, it may be hard to prove it’s not you.

However, someone picked his chequebook up and use all six cheques which were $600 in total and pretend it was him to sign the name on it. The student told the TD bank that the signature was different from him, so he wanted to give the money back because it is a fraud. However, after review his case, TD bank was declined the student’s claim because the bank thinks he has responsible for exercising due diligence to protect the card and information. So, TD will not refund $600 to the student.

This video is very different from the others that I shared above and I think it is really useful. Some people might think if someone steals his card and puts the “fake” signature on it, he can still go to the bank to prove it that it wasn’t him and required a refund. However, even the signature was different from the cardholder, many people like me didn’t know that our bank still can decline our request because of the policy.
