I had many classes with you over my 4 years at SBU. The most memorable was my very first class my Freshman year. The way you read the Bible and showed us the meaning of the original text made everything fresh and interesting. I’d read the Bible many times but never the way you did. You made the Bible come alive!  The emotion and meaning behind the words were palpable when you read them. Thank you for making class fun and life changing. I think I am older today, than you were when you stepped into the Redford and set up shop.  I recall your laugh, your joy, your love of scripture - all flowing from your love of the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. 
Thank you for teaching us well, for showing faithfulness and devotion to your family and your local church, and for showing you can be a friend to us as well as our teacher.   ... and should I mention?  Thanks for reading with grace and patience my poorly constructed papers and reports.  How you put up with my burnt offerings, I'll never know!

Words cannot even being to express my gratitude for your years of service at SBU. I know hundreds of alumni/students like myself benefitted greatly from your instruction and many of us continue to refer back to lessons you gave.
There are too many memories to recount here. Whether it was Intro to OT,  Hebrew, Wisdom Lit, or Pentateuch, every class was worth it. Your Hermeneutics class in particular has impacted so much of my life and is put to use any time I preach or teach from the Bible. As others have said, it was always evident that what you taught was more than an academic effort, but was a passion of your faith in Christ.
I pray the best for you as you move on to the next adventures God has in store for you.
