He is an old man however very strong despite his looks. The Father had “dark eyes, pale skin, a strong, clean-shaven jaw. His hair, which had been covered by a hat in the’ casts, turned out to be an indeterminate brown.” (p.g.260) He is a strong believer in God and his father was a military man much like Teagan’s. He used computers and advanced technology unlike the rest of the Ark Project village where he lived. He believed that the Ark Project was humanity’s last chance. He had a very broad knowledge of it and was almost like the manager/ head person of it.

In her previous life, Tegan was involved in parkour and so she uses that skill to try to escape the building she is being kept in. She ends up at a talk in progress by Dr. Carmen who rescues her and takes her back to the research compound. When Tegan realizes that she is not going to be allowed to leave, she goes on a hunger strike for five days. Eventually Dr. Carmen (Marie) and Colonel Trevor Dawson who oversees the program agree to allow Tegan to attend school and live on the outside with Dr. Carmen. They arrange for Tegan to attend the Elizabeth Murdoch Academy and after she is accosted by a journalist, to have two body guards, Master Sergeant Gregor Petrov and Sergeant Zaniesha Washington.                             
 Chapter 2: To help her assimilate into school, a fellow student, Bethari Miyahputri, is assigned to Tegan. Her first day at school sees Tegan meet a fellow "immigrant" to Australia, Abdi Taalib, who is in the country on a "Talented Alien visa". Abdi is a "Thirdie", someone who is from a Third World country. After a brief misunderstanding, when Tegan attends music class, Abdi breaks his silence and sings with her as she plays guitar.                                                               
 Chapter 3: When an Inheritor of the Earth protester confronts Teagan in a Catholic church where she has stopped to say some prayers, he tells her that she is being used by the military and to research "Ark Pro...". The protester is killed by Tegan's bodyguard before he can finish but Tegan decides that she needs to know more about this future society and who the protesters are. 
                                                                                                                                    Chapter 4: Certain that her own computer is not secure, Tegan uses Bethari's computer to research life in the 22nd century and to find out what the Inheritor was trying to tell her. She discovers that there is some kind of top secret military project called Ark Project and is given a list of addresses, one of which is in Victoria and close to the army base. Tegan sets up a "sleepover" Bethari and Joph, who is a classmate at Elizabeth Murdoch Academy. While Bethari and Tegan check out the location near the army base, Joph stays at Bethari's house to help the other two avoid detection. Tegan and Bethari discover that the abandoned warehouse is a cover for some kind of top secret military operation but are unable to discover exactly what that is.                                                                                                                                                                 Chapter 5: Meanwhile Dawson sets up an interview with journalist Carl Hurfest to try to get some positive press for Tegan who has been labeled the "Living Dead Girl". However, the interview goes badly when Tegan criticizes the Australian government over its treatment of immigrants and not being willing to share its resources with "thirdies” as people from the Third World are known. This PR disaster causes Dawson to order her to be handcuffed and taken back to the concrete army bunker. But Dr. Cameron intervenes, knocking Dawson unconscious and helping Tegan to escape

Teagan goes to a church she goes by. Teagan goes in with her body guards and leaves Bethari in the car. Teagan starts praying to Mary cause she likes Mary more then Jesus. Teagan prayers out loud then Gregory gets a call of an inheritor  coming inside the church. Zaneisha pushes Teagan toward the wall protecting her. The inheritor starts to talk about the Ark Project and then gets shot by Gregory. Teagan freaks out about this and is wondering about the Ark project cause she doesn't know what it is.

Chapter 7 (Here comes the sun)

Teagan has Bethari's paper Laptop thing and decides to look up what the Ark Pro... is. Teagan does some history homework so that it dosent make Marie get suspicious. Teagan finds out about the world problems and looks deeper. Teagan gets started on the Ark Pro.... and find out its the Ark project Teagan finds out the address and then the laptop says "ADVISE IMMEDIATE CLOUD SEPARATION TRACE 96.2% COMPLETE". Teagan freaks out and starts smashing the laptop on anything she could find but it wouldn't break Teagan then she smashes it with a little statue and it breaks Teagan puts water in it an hides in under her bed. Marie comes in and ask if she's ok.

Teagan finds out about the Ark Project and tells Bethari about the address and all. Bethari and Teagan come up with a plan to stay at Bethari's place and sneak out when Bethari's mum fell asleep and go to the address. Teagan asks Marie and Marie is thrilled about the sleepover idea. Marie asks Dawson about this but isn't as keen Marie and Dawson have a fight about this and in the end Marie wins. They take Teagan to Bethari's house they walk up stairs and Joph is there Teagan is surprised, Bethari tells her why Joph is here she is cover for when they leave for the address. Bethari has to pray and do some stuff before they leave so they play some video games to past time. When its time to leave Teagan and Bethari got out the window and strait to the address. The place is a warehouse they walk down an alleyway Bethari hacks into the security cameras. They look whats inside through the cameras but is empty. Bethari tells Teagan that it might be the wrong place. Then a truck comes in with some army men.

Teagan and Bethari return and go to sleep. The next morning Teagan is picked up early in the morning by Dawson. Teagan gets nervous from last night and acts all mad for picking her up early. When Dawson get in the car he tells Teagan that she was going to be interviewed and Teagan freaks out about this saying that she failed before Dawson also tells her about who the interviewer was going to be Hurfest. Teagan is stressing out about this but Dawson tells Teagan that they made an agreement and that she will be wgetting help with the interview with a pro.

He was sticking to the script until he said something about the migrant policy and Adbi and Teagan went off her head. Then Teagan and Hurfest started aurguing like crazy. Everyone was excused and left except for Marie. They ended up restraining Hurfest shovinig him under Marie’s bed, takin his earring/ computer, and his lazer gun. They had to leave quickly before someone found out what they had done. Marie was driving around town in the middle of the nght to give Teagan a place to hide. She went to Zaneisha’s and Joph’s. Joph gave Teagan some legal drugs to help her cam down which did. And they called Adbi to find someone for her to hide.                                                                                                                                                                                                        Chapter 12 ( With A Little Help From My Friends; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o2tVdnQDDEk) They had heaps of questions but they ended up going to the factory where Bethari and Teeg went on their sleep over. They went inside and found all of these bodies of refuges from camps. In boxes near the roof all naked and frozen. They were horrified. The guards found them and temporarily paralysed Zaneisha and shot Joph in the leg. Teagan and Adbi had to leave as they had to the footage of all these bodies. Adbi and Teeg were eventully caufght after running through the city and ally way.

Chapter 13 ( You’ve Got To Hide Your Love Awayhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AfON7S1mP2Q: ) Teagan woke up with Adbi tapping her face. They were on the boat and Teagan wasa sick from the mix of the drugs from Joph and the stuff they used to knock out Teagan while catching her. They finally reached an island that Teagan thought was Tasmania. They walked int this building and all these people were watching the. They had cows and meat. They were given some meat ad food to eat. They were separated to sleep. Teagan was given a white night gown and eventually fell asleep.

Then they went up to this hill into a building with a desk and notebook and an actual ink pen. This town was very old school. there was Adbi and they were do bible studies together. They had time to wright notes about trying to escape this place.

They kissed and slept together in there. Teagan finally found out that she loves Adbi. Teagan met the “Father”. He explained what the Ark Project was. Teagan and Adbi escaped this time by using the Father by threatning to kill him so that the other villages would them  escape.

But because she had signed her body over to science upon death, she was taken to an experimental cryonics unit run by Dr. Tessa Kalin. There she was injected with a solution derived from tardigrades, which are segmented micro-animals that can survive under extreme conditions (from extreme cold to very high temperatures) and then frozen. Dr. Kalin and her team did not know how to reverse the cryonics procedure in 2027 and Teagan was kept frozen until a future time when scientists would have developed that ability. That time has now arrived in the year 2128. Under the direction of Dr. Marie Carmen, who is working in conjunction with the Australian military.

In school she helped teach all the things Teagan needed to know for school, and helps her understand this new world she has been suddenly brought back into. There are many lies and deception throughout the book. As Zaniesha ended up working for the Ark Project; the thing that Tegan was fighting against since the second she woke up. This shows that Zaniesha had courage because she wasn’t afraid to be in the minority rather than in the majority. She also working for the Ark Project meant that she was trying to do the right thing for her friends by persisting in creating a better future for her friends and the Australia. The theme Truth and Deception had a strong connection to Zaniesha as she was keeping many lies from her friend and mainly from Tegan. (PIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1111 )

She lived in Melbourne, was loved, had many friends, liked music and playing the guitar, and protested regularly against politics, global warming and Earths problems. She was that 16-year-old girl who finally thought she had found love and was making her way in the world to be an extraordinary woman, who would change Earth’s future forever. However simply just going to another protest about global warming with her new boyfriend and her best friend. Tegan didn’t plan it to be her last. Teagan finally wakes up 100 years later to a totally new world locked up in a government facility. She was cryonically frozen and the first person to be revived. Now she’s alive she must find new friends and solve a mystery before Earth could possibly be destroyed. However, she is stuck between two wishes; to have a normal life as a teenage girl and keep her head down, or fight to survive and for a better future.

Marie is Teagan protector she supports Teagan and is part of the new beginning. Marie is a scientist she has blue-black hair, creamy skin, high cheekbones, brown eyes and wrinkles and about the age of forty or younger. Marie helps later in the book when Teagan escapes Dawson, she drives faraway from Teagans location to get the army and police away but is later captured and is later used to get Teagan out of the warehouse that she is hiding in. Her wife died a few years ago from a decease. Marie's personality is cheerful,sad and enthusiastic. In the book 'When We Wake' the theme Truth V.S Deception. This is  mostly displayed by the character Tegan. Tegan was woken up up 100 years after she was meant to die. Secrets were kept from her and they were all gradually told and exposed towards the end of the story.
