It does not belong to your character, but you are so hungry and you want that sandwich. In character, examine the room. You approach the sandwich, interact with it and eat it. You look around the room and leave.'

Ensure they incorporate stock characters, a master/servant relationship, a clear conflict, the use of lazzi, and other production elements such as costume and props as they see fit. 
Have the groups present their performance to the rest of the class and have the audience review and comment on what they enjoyed, what Commedia concepts they noticed, and some constructive feedback. 
This can be done within a lesson as a smaller activity or over multiple lessons as a larger assessment piece. If devising a performance as a larger assessment piece, you can have your students also write up a supporting document with their statement of intention and a description of the concepts and features they used. Name an emotion and have the students demonstrate that emotion from a scale of 1 to 10, with one being the most subtle and 10 being the most exaggerated. Start at level 1 and by level 10, encourage them to be very over the top and exaggerated. Have them choose scenarios and characters that occur in their everyday life but use the concepts of Commedia to portray the scene.
