One day after school, I was on my way home walking by the MRT station when I realised that a black cat was following me. I like cats and I am not superstitious but it did creep me out a little. I tried to interact with the black cat in various ways but it only seemed interested in following me. I spotted another black cat by the lift under my block and at that very moment, the one that had been following me disappeared into thin air.

After working diligently and consistently throughout my four years in secondary school, I was overjoyed when I learned that I had earned the Best in English award last year. It is awarded to students who have high academic standing in English and have consistently demonstrated passion for the subject through an excellent attitude. As I stood proud and tall on the stage in my school hall along with the other awardees during the annual awards presentation ceremony, my heart was filled with immense gratitude for everyone who supported me during this lengthy uphill battle for academic excellence, including my dearest family and my closest friends.

Last year I went on a camping trip with my family in Australia. It was my first time camping in the woods - real woods, not like the modernised campsites in Singapore. I was cooking on a stove when I noticed something black and moving across the wooden table. Spiders are my worst fears. I did not want to risk startling it with any noise so I covered my mouth firmly with my hands and bolted. No soup for dinner that day but at least I was safe.

Through some strange turn of events, I discovered that the Student Council president cheated in their end-of-year Maths exam. It was the worst conundrum I had ever faced because if I were to report them to a teacher, I might get found out and be ostracised for the remaining school year or even longer, which would mean death to my social life in school. If I were to keep it a secret, I could not tolerate the injustice that the cheater was not punished. Finally, I decided to stand up for what was right and reported them to my Maths teacher.

After my grandfather passed away in malaysia and i was heading back home with my mother, we were at tanah merah station. i somehow ended up being confused about which station platform to go to, which resulted in me being separated from my mother. but somehow, i managed to get back home earlier than she did, because she was finding me when i called. we were separated throughout the train ride and i couldnt find her in the train. eventually, she came back and i was yelled at for 10 whole minutes.

One day during cca, I was practicing with my friends and the coach. The teacher asked my friend and I to go upstairs to get the shuttles that landed. My friend and I went to take the lift to go upstairs. After we picked up all the shuttles, I decided to be playful and go down the lift without my friend. To my horror, the playful me pressed random buttons and I ended up getting stuck in the lift and the lift door wouldn't open. I immediately shouted for my friend to help but to no avail as he had used the stairs. After some time, the teacher found out I was trapped and helped me get out of the lift. after this, I had a phobia of entering a lift.

Once I decided to make myself tea. So I decided to go into the kitchen to make it. After squirting the lemon juice into the cup with the tea. When I took out the tea bag to dispose of it, I saw that the trash bin was full. So I decided to throw it in the rubbish chute with the tea bag.(Note: My house has a rubbish chute inside unlike the BTOs) So when I went back to the cup of lemon tea, I realised the teabag was back in the cup. I had already witnessed the teabag get disposed by me.

So how did it end up back? NO ONE was at home except for me.

I am in a competition team called MvJunior and we dance competitively as a group. I thought my group was going to be as close as ever with my teammates and get to know them better and we would stick like glue, but what I did not know was how the team was going to fall apart and never really be the same ever again. One day after our first competition we came for our regular training. We were already not in a very good mood as during the competition we got second place and lost to one of our greatest opponents, and then, our coach dropped a bomb on us. He told us that the only boy in our group, who was japanese was going to move away to Taiwan as his dad had a job there and had to follow him. We were shocked by those words that came out of our coach's mouth, no words could come out. And the training after that one was the last time we would see each other again.

I was heading home at that time and wanted to take the elevator to my story. I would take the stairs because they have a bigger space but it would've taken too long. my family had managed to get enough money to travel to Shanghai, China. I didn't really enjoy myself there because I had to wear an uncomfortable necklace, though it was meant to save me from the cursed and the evil. we had to join a tourist company so that the tour guide could show us around china. then one day,we were at this village and it was drizzling. I remember a moment before when I sat down on a gate when I slipped because of the rain and i fell backwards and hit my head. God thing I never fell into the water stream nearby.

I was ecstatic when I heard that I was number one in my mother tongue class. I was not sure that I really got it but after receiving my exam paper back I finally confirmed that I got the highest mark in my mother tongue. I was impatiently tapping my fingers on my table waiting for school to end so that I could show my parents that I had gotten the highest in my class for Chinese though I was not, particularly strong in my mother tongue language.

During P6, I had won 3 trophies at the same time. It was quite shocking as I have yet to receive so many trophies at the same time. It was for good progress in all my subjects. I felt so happy that my hard work had paid off. It was quite challenging as it was during PSLE timing, which asks for more hard work that needs to put in. My parents were proud of me. I was standing proud and tall on the stage. I've never felt so happy in my life before. I knew that the hard work I put in was worth it. At the end of the day, I walked home with 3 new trophies to bring home to add to my trophy collection.

During the first, second and third term of primary 6, I got very bad grades and most of them were failures. My parents were of course disappointed and confiscated my phone until I finished PSLE. As I wanted my phone back, I studied everyday day and night without rest. On the day, the long awaited PSLE examinations I have studied for arrived. To me surprise when I got my score, I actually scored AL4 which was the best score in my whole cohort!

In primary 6, I was always putting in effort to get the 'Eagles' award, which comes with $250 in cash. I have always been putting in effort in CCA, showing leadership qualities, helping my juniors, displaying my skills in the instrument I played (I was in Chinese Orchestra in Primary School as my CCA). After my P6 year have ended, I have always been awaiting for the award. Checking my mail box in my home. After awaiting for a long time, I finally received a text from my Mother telling me I got the award. I was over the moon. My efforts paid off.

When I was in Primary 3 and 4, I would always get an AL7 or AL6 for all my subjects, the highest I got was AL5. At the start of Primary 5, I knew I had to improve and catch up as PSLE and Prelims was just around the corner. At the end of Primary 5, I saw an improvement, I was getting mostly AL6 for all my subjects and my highest was AL4! Suddenly, during the December holidays, a letter was sent to me. When I opened it, I got Good Progress Award by MOE! This was the first time I got an Edusave award regarding my academics!

When I was in Taiwan, my family drove to an isolated place where no other foreigners were. We had ordered a full-grown crocodile to feast on and me being myself, I decided to chop the crocodile's head off first and took a goofy picture with it. As I was scared of heights I began having butterflies in my stomach but I wanted to face my fears for once. Once I neared the zipline my heart started palpitating wildly. Earlier this year around June, I went to Malaysia, JB, where I was going to go shopping. There, I was forced to stay with my sister in a play area, and I scrolled through social media while she was playing. A few minutes later an alarm sounded. It was a fire alarm. I texted my parents to pick us up, and we evacuated the mall immediately. We went outside and sat at the grassy spot near the mall. We sat there until nighttime. After that, we had to camp in that area, as our car was locked in the car park. We bought our camping essentials from a nearby shop. We camped there the whole night and awoke in the morning early to retrieve our car and purchases, which we had to abandon in the mall. Later after the incident, I checked the news. The alarm was a bomb threat and not a fire alarm.

One day, I had to encounter a bee sting. I usually shower before going to bed and on that day after I am done with my refreshing wark bath, I went on to put on my bathrobe. One day in the afternoon after school, I was walking to Macdonald's with my friends. After we ate our burgers, we decided to go to the playground that was just around the corner. And me being the fastest out of all of them got alot of distance away from them. Until we came across a road, I wanted to run across the road without thinking bus I knew I needed to go to the traffic light nearby to cross. But because i wanted to win, I ran right across the road. Suddenly, i heard one of my friend shout "WATCH OUT!" I turned to my right and saw a car coming closer and closer to me, I was like a a deer infront of a car headlight, I stood there shocked. Thankfully, the car managed to brake in time and I was safe and sound. The car driver got out and reprimanded me for not using the traffic light to cross the road and carelessly running across the road without a second thought.

I was in a rush to walk back home after enjoying my lunch. There was a zebra crossing and a jay-walk path. I chose the wrong path, jay-walk path. Since there was a lot of people crossing the zebra crossing, I went by the wrong way. After I looked left and right, I was about to step on the ground. To my horror, to see a taxi honking at me and driving very fast and zoomed past me. I was so stunned. I told myself to always use the right way. That experience lead me to realise the real danger of jay-walking. I was truely truely scared. I knew to never do that again.

Large insects like cockroaches, beetles and bees had always been my biggest fear. When I was in Primary six, it was during Math lesson, looking at the projected screen with full attention, I paid attention to the lesson as it was the year of Prelims and PSLE. I was writing down the corrections to a revision paper my class did last week when I saw a gigantic beetle or bee on my left shoulder! I immediately panicked and sweeped the insect off my shoulder, it then flew around the classroom, some of my classmates immediately flinched upon the insect's close contact with them. This was the closest encounter with my biggest fear!

One day, I was weightlifting at home with my father and sister. I was doing an exercise called 'skull-crusher' to train my triceps. I was using 2 six-kilogram dumbells to do repetitions for each set. My father told me to try using 2 eight-kilogram dumbells to do repetitions. I did 5 repetitions in total while using 2 eight-kilogram dumbells, when I did the 6th repetition, I almost dropped the 2 eight-kilogram dumbells on my face. This exercise was called 'skull-crusher' for a reason. Luckily, I managed to slowly put the 2 eight-kilogram dumbells on the floor beside my head. After that day, when I thought about this incident, I realised that I had almost died.

When I found a gigantic box of papers and files, it sparked my curiosity. I opened the gigantic box and found my father's graduation certificate! My father never told me much about his past besides telling me how he studied in Primary school and his daily routine. When looked further into the gigantic box, I found marriage certificates, exemption from National Service form, his Primary School report book, his Secondary School report book, what classes he took after graduation and many other stuff. I even found some of my mother's stuff. I found her marriage certificate, classes she took in Singapore and many other stuff. I never told my parents about my discovery though. I couldn't sleep that night trying to process all of the information I received from reading each and every one of those documents, forms and certificates.

When I was eleven, my brother loved animals of all kinds so since the new bird park was going to close soon and it was our last chance of going to the bird park before it would be under construction and moved we had to go. I was and still am super afraid of birds and when I see birds flying past me I'm so scared words cannot even come out of my mouth and all I can think of is to run. We went into the bird exhibit where we could hold the birds and feed them food and the moment I stepped in birds started flying in front of me and I got so scared but I had to follow along for awhile. But at the end i was too scared so i went out and waited for my family members until they were done.

For my competition dance, I had two "special moments" where two people would carry one person up in the air and I would have to slide under and right after that I would have to go down very very low so that someone could do a frontwalk over over me. The thing was that if I did not make it front enough to slide under or if the trick failed I would be squashed by the person being lifted in the air and if I did not go down low enough or if I did not get into the position of time my hands would have been squashed by the persons feet or my head could be hit by the persons feet which happened before. What made it worse was that my costume was made out of a lot of friction as it was rubbery which cause me to get an abraision every time i slid under the person.
