#1: I leaned about measuring and how and what to use to measure things.  People would use most parts of there body to measure things.  But if we do its not going to be precise. 

#2:  they could not use a metal bar to measure anything because it would grow and shrink

#3:three pieces of  barley corn equal an inch and one barley corn equaled a third of an inch. 

#4: Also 1,000 paces equals a mile.
