As you can see famine has impacted district 12 because people are very hungry. In chapter 2, page 18 the novel state, "The capitol wants to punish us so the districts don't rebel again". This shows the main character Katniss had to deal with the Capitol making the Hunger Games and the reaping. As you can see, the conflict with the Capitol and the Districts has impacted Katniss to become strong and face hard challenges in her life. My least favorite part was when Peeta joins the careers, because it made me mad and felt like Peeta betrayed Katniss. My favorite character was Cinna because he helped Katniss a lot and Katniss liked him too. If I could change one thing, it would be that Rue also wins the Hunger Games with Katniss and Peeta because Rue was nice, young, and helped Katniss get the idea of making the tracker jackers go for the Careers. One technique the author used that I really liked was the hooks because when a chapter would start or end, it would make me want to read the next one so badly. One example of this is when Rue points her finger to something above Katniss’s head, I wanted to know what was above her and what would happen to Rue. After that, she starts to show emotion. At the end of the novel, Katniss shows emotion, she shows emotion when the novel says, "This is the first kiss that we’re both fully aware of. Neither of us hobbled by sickness or pain or simply unconscious. Our lips neither burning with fever or icy cold. This is the first kiss where I actually feel stirring inside my chest. Warm and curious. The novel states, "You want me for an ally?" "Why not? You saved me with those tracker jackers." This shows that Katniss really trusts Rue.
