In the book, the tones are different. It was curious, detached, ghoulish, uneasy, and grim. She sounds curious about the new house and wants to explore. As she starts exploring more she finds a secret door and decides to go in it. As she went through the door she goes through what looks like a loophole where she ends off in some sort of underworld that mimics what her world looks like.

The book has many different moods. Throughout the Coraline book the eerie mood kept the same. She continued with the story as going through an out of body experience exploring another world that was modeled just like her own but the feeling of being there was so different. Although the experience was exciting it was also scary. In the beginning, she's excited about exploring this new world she had found but, towards the end she starts getting scared thinking she'll never see her real family again.

The first setting is in what looks like an old abandon house and is separated into flats. The second setting is similar to the first but more dolly like. It is almost like a parallel universe

The whole story is based on Coraline a friendly and curious girl. she likes to be adventurous. she doesn't like to be because it doesn't give her mind a place to wonder. She likes a place where she can be curious and find new things

The book overall was a good book. It kept my attention and didn't get boring. There was always something new popping up, a new obstacle she had to overcome and she continued doing so. The plot twist within the story played out very well and I was impressed.
