1. Physical Geography shows us how the land we are on formed and came to be. It is important that we know why the land is the way it is so that we can predict the future, like Pangaea or monitoring volcanic eruptions and earthquakes. (whats there, why there) or know where and how to build certain structures for safety and resilience. E.G. Earthquakes, you need to accommodate buildings by adding suspension or other stability accommodations, and making sure its safe. We need to care because people can get injured if these structures are poorly designed. This all starts with knowing about tectonic plates, and location of fault lines.

2. My response includes Patterns and Trends and the importance of them (safety and planning) and Spatial Significance (safety, preparation)

Natural Disasters
Interrelationships - Question #3

Natural disasters are horrid. Contributing immensely to environmental damage and loss of life, they are indisputably one of the single greatest threats to our planet’s natural characteristics and processes, as well as human activities.
Natural disasters such as tsunamis, earthquakes and hurricanes; to name a few, impact our society and environment far more than we could ever come to acknowledge. For instance, the extreme tides of a severe tsunami impacts human and wildlife communities alike; inflicting great damage upon human homes and infrastructure, not to mention the natural habitats made home to all kinds of populations of wildlife.

In conclusion, the impact of natural disasters on our way of life is incredibly significant. By interfering with human activities and developments, and natural processes amongst wildlife; such as hunting and reproduction, natural disasters prove to us that all while nature is fascinating, it has a destructive capability in which we, as it’s inhabitants, must continue to remain aware of.

Pictured below, an image showing the 10 metre tides of the 2011 earthquake and tsunami in Tōhoku, Japan.

We can connect these key points of questioning to physical geography by using our knowledge on the subject to reason a logical explanation to why and how the events caused or going to cause will affect the land in and around it. With the study of physical geography, the theme of “What’s there”, “Why there”, “Why care” can have a specific emphasis on certain aspects of topics and can help us gain an enriched understanding of the topic/issue at hand. “What's there” talks about what exactly is there in the current state (A mountain is on the coast). “Why there” talks about why exactly the thing that is there is there (A mountain could be formed from collision of plate tectonics). “Why care” talks about why we should pay attention to, understand, and learn from the topic/issue (From this mountain, we can gain a better understanding of plate tectonics and could be beneficial to understanding other phenomena)

As stated before, we can use our knowledge of the workings of landforms on Earth to get a better understanding for what is best for the future. Patterns and trends are very prominent in physical geography. Many of the characteristics or movements are predictable based on what we know, and we can use this to identify the importance of their repetitiveness and how it will affect us.

1. What's There, Why There, and Why care are all questions you must answer to be able to successfully have studied the physical geography of a location. These three questions can be seen as the basis for all questions made regarding the studied location, and are fundamental in getting a basic grasp of the site and situation, and the processes that are occurring, have occurred, and also possibly will occur.

2. In my response, I have included Spacial Significance because it heavily ties into how we can understand, see, and act according to the physical geography around us.
