The treaty was needed to calm down all the different sides and stop a war.  In this treaty, Spain turned everything over to the U.S in exchange for money. The panic of 1819 was overall a horrible political and economic situation and did not contribute to the "Good Feelings era", due to it being a bad feeling for everyone. He was very successful with it although he was very pretentious in how he managed it. This caused Jackson to be suspicious about Biddle's motives.
