I stopped going to get the hours and just go because I really enjoy sitting down with the kids and teaching them. I went from helping them pronounce each letter in a word to watching them read and write their thoughts (for now). I observed my moms classroom and a fun activity she does in the morning is she tells the kids to draw their dreams out, and gradually she will have them write them down instead to show their parents. Overall, I completed sixty four observational hours when only sixteen were needed. The children were really nice and had a good behavior. One of the teachers that i observed would give out play money to the student who did something in the classroom like picking up the trash even if the trash wasn't theirs or if they finished their homework, if they read a book when she didn't ask them to do so while she was busy and if they participated and got the answer correct (everyone participated, they all raised their hand to answer). At the end of the week the teacher sells them toys with the money they collected. My niece actually has this teacher and she always do her homework even if we don't tell her to do it. If she forgets to do it she literally wakes up like at 3 in the morning to do her homework so she can get money. The whole class would compete against the class next door. The two teachers would use this new toy machine called eggexpert. it had two buttons and a timer. The teacher would ask a math or reading question. The two students would step up and press the buzzer egg and answer. If the first person got it wrong their opponent had a chance to answer it right. Getting the point for their class. All the kids were very completive and engaged to answer the question to get points for their class. The winning class gets the points and show off that their the smartest class with little prizes. I currently am observing math because it is a subject that I want to teach, but recently have been observing 3rd grade reading and writing and I also love it. Children come up with ideas and answers that I am not expected to hear from a 3rd grade child. An activity I have seen in my observations is the fair cup that the teachers tend to have in order for there to be no gender discrimination. The fair cup contains the name of the children and in order to play the math game on the board they are chosen through the fair cup. In my short time stay in each class, I observe some positive activities. Most of the teachers place their students in group activities. I notice students responsibility in helping to distribute learning materials to other students by teachers request. I notice that teachers use prompt quizzes to test their students understanding especially in eight grades. I was amazed at students quick answers. I observed that in high grades the teachers use technologies in teaching like a projector. In some classes, teachers are always ready and prepared for their next lesson if their students were out for Physical education or music class.  I observed also that all the students I tutored, basically had a pre-knowledge of the topic.

The teacher in the Algebra I had a very structured classroom. All students were seated in a way that the teacher gets to see their work.The teacher uses a smart board to teach the lessons.He explained his lessons with very good details so students get to understand well. The teacher was always asking questions to make sure the students were understanding the procedures or steps to do problems. Most of the students got the opportunity to go up to the smart board and work on a problem and show step by step to see if they learned how to solve it. The same was for the Computer and Chemistry classes I observed. They also implement the use of the smart board for teaching in their classrooms. They also called students to go and do some work on the smart board to see if they had understood and learned what they were teaching. One example of this occurred in the observation hours at the High School. There I was able to watch a peer to peer essay review exercise during a Dual – Credit US History class. This was very interesting to me because it balanced the requirements of a college class with the expected outcomes of a high schooler. I could see how the students were invested in the activity and tried to complete it to their best to their abilities during the class time. The activity by it self asked more that a review of the contents that they say during the previous classes.
