I choose to lay out my classroom this way so the students can come into the classroom and the first thing they see is the classroom schedule for them to already know what is going to be the routine for the day. I put the student next to my desk and the door because I don't want them to be distracted by anything other than objects and go straight to their desk with easy access. I also put them next to my desk for them to have me close in case of any help they may need or any other situation. I put my desk next to the door so I can close it the moment the student enters the class and have supervision over it at all times. In the layout, I put different color work areas so the student can differentiate between the two areas with colors and associate the colors with what they are for. I decided to have a calm-down area for them to relax and be alone so that when they feel overstimulated or are having a crisis they can go to that corner and come back when they are better. Lastly, I felt it was important for them to be at the front for maximum visibility of the board and have the ability to focus more during lectures.

Communication Devices, or AAC devices: Students with autism who struggle to communicate can use a AAC device that will help them say what they need, participate in class, or talk to a classmate. For example, the student can show a picture to answer a classroom discussion.

Tablets with learning apps: These tablets are made for the student's needs and can help the student understand a lesson or help them plan their schedule with visuals to establish a routine. The apps can also help the student understand the lesson that is being taught in a way they can learn it.

adaptive keyboard

An adaptive keyboard: It can make it easier for students with autism who have trouble moving their bodies to use and connect with computers. A student who has trouble controlling a regular mouse might find it easier to do so with a trackball. This would let them do more computer-based learning activities and tasks on their own without the help of anyone.
