Samuel de Champlain was a French Explorer who was born in 1574 in Brouage, France and died December 25, 1635 in Quebec. In 1603 Samuel de Champlain began exploring North America establishing the city Quebec in the northern colony of France and mapping out the Atlantic Coast and Great Lakes. He continued exploring until he was restrained to a lieutenant so he decided to go back to Canada with his wife in 1620. Samuel's uncle took him on her earliest voyages giving him the motivation to being an explorer for life. Samuel always spent time writing on his travels. While Samuel was exploring deep in Canada, he stayed with the Huron Native Americans during the winter. During his stay he documented one of the most detailed accounts of Native American life.
