Tiana works very hard as a waitress to make money and is stuck in this cycle. Her dream of owning a restaurant seems out of reach but she continues to work, although she can ask her best friends father, Mr. La Bouff, for money to kickstart her restaurant. This shows great desire to start her restaurant with her own work and dedication, which is correlated with one line in the essay which reads: "no kernel of nourishing corn can come to him but though his toil" (1). Additionally, throughout the movie Tiana takes charge and very intelligent and resourceful. She doesn't rely on anyone else to get where she wants. For example, in the movie when Naveen and her are stranded and frogs, they are starving, but Tiana, with her ability to identify safe foods to eat, chop, and curate a meal from pretty much anything, keeps the pair from staying hungry. Tiana has "integrity...of mind" and is a "nonconformist" (4). Never let somebody try to tell you otherwise". This is heavily correlated with the idea in the essay of being a "nonconformist" (4) and the idea in the essay that being misunderstood shouldn't alter ones actions that they want to take. Rather, they should be confident in what they want to do and "speak...in words as hard as cannon balls" (6). Both state that one should continue on their path without external influence and be confident with their actions they want to take. Another lyric from the song that is correlated with the essay is "The only thing I hear is my heart---I'm inspired. By the challenge that I find myself standing eye to eye with". This lyric connects with the essay's idea stating to "Trust thyself: every heart vibrates to that iron string"(2). The idea that trusting and listening to one's internal thoughts is a great emphasis in both sources. That trust is described as ensuring success. Finally, another lyric from the song is "Then move like a wise warrior and not a coward", which is very similar when the essay states "God will not have his work made manifest by cowards" (1). Galileo was alive during a period of time where the Church believed that the Earth was the only planetary existence, and if there were even other bodies in space, they revolved around the Earth. Overall though, the Church was against space discovery and any possibility of astronomy. Galileo challenged the church, especially with his continued investigation that the Earth revolved around the Sun, which led him to being ordered to turn himself in to the Holy Office and be held on trial. He developed a system to survive for as long as he was able solely by his own intelligence, action, and creativity.
