Scout being of a young age jumped to many conclusions and judged Walter, not trying to put herself in his shoes or get a better understanding of why he dunked his food in syrup. Calpurnia on the other hand is more understanding of why Walter did what he did and takes into account that he is poor and was not raised in a home that got all of the things Scout got. Before jumping to conclusions it's important to try to understand the facts and see the bigger picture. Instead of analyzing the situation completely people of the neighborhood, such as the children, drew up conclusions of what was going on in the Radley house of what the people were like. Here truth and perspective clash. Having the power to do so is something that some people use and others don't, extreme moments like survival can force a person to change their reality to help comfort themselves. When put in a situation like life or death it can be very beneficial as to preserving sanity but when people alter their perspective of the world by using drugs for example, it can be bad.
