Idea: The community needs Martin to stay and run the farms whether he is an impostor or not. Though individual justice has been served, the community did not have justice. Arnaud aka Fake Martin™ (the man who picked up the slack and improved the community) was an important asset to the community and the fact that he is sentenced to death will affect the community negatively. (sorry too many community)

Message: Lewis demonstrates how the deliverance of individual justice, does not always confirm that an individual's needs are met
Idea: The individual justice is served, as of what Bertrande wanted.
Bertrande wanted everyone to see that she is not mad.
Individual justice has been served but social justice has not been served – she was happy for justice for herself but the community was sad that there is no Martin Guerre to look after them.
Although Bertrande got justice and was proved right she didn't intend to have him sentenced to death.
