The video from Schitt's Creek is a funny and light hearted way on saying David likes people for who they are and not based of their gender identity or label in society. Gender identity is based off someone's sense of self in relation of gender and can sometimes be effected by the looking glass self but is mostly determined by many factors like socialization.

The music video Holiday by Green Day is an act of rebellion to calling out the government's actions during the Iraq war it was their way of speaking out against injustice. Green Day is calling out the dysfunction war cause in society and aims to call people out to hopefully take steps to a better future.

Henna is beautiful body art made into a paste from leaves, worn on weddings and special occasions in cultures in South Asia, the Middle East, and parts of Africa. This is an example of symbolic/material culture. Material culture are material objects that distinguish a group of people it could also be food, jewelry, architecture. Henna also known as Mehndi symbolizes love, fertility, and in some cultures they believe the darker the henna stain the deeper the connection.

My husband was in the Marine Corps during his time serving he was put through boot camp and he didn't have any contact with the outside world. Boot camp would be considered a time in which he was in a total institution where one is cut off from the world. In boot camp he learned to hold values like honor, courage, and commitment at a much higher standard than he did before.

In this class we define culture shock as the disorientation that people feel when they experience a new fundamentally different culture and can't rely on their own assumptions about life. Being a tourist in Japan is amazing. They keep the streets and public areas very clean and are very respectful to everyone. Their values and beliefs make sure everyone keeps a high standard. The food is also very different compared to American food and in my opinion much healthier.

Every Catholic is christian but not every christian is catholic, so the catholic belief system would be considered a subculture within Christianity.

Subculture is defined as a world within a larger world of the dominant culture.

Working poor is defined as people who remain poor because of menial dead end jobs with no benefits, that pay below minimum wage, and have little to no opportunity to move up or out. When I first moved out I worked as a waitress and moved to the back of the house to be a cook. During this time I was surrounded by amazing people who did not have the same opportunities as me. Some of the people I worked with were from other countries and some had children. The jobs offered in the customer service/ food industry are mostly dead end and pay barely above minimum wage. To earn enough to pay bills I needed to work exhausting hours that didn't leave much time for school, family, or a social life.

Teachers focus on educating students to get a degree so they can have a bright future. I would classify teachers as instrumental leaders because they are the one's who moves the group along by influencing the necessary behavior, opinion, and attitude to accomplish a greater goal.

Social media is used for many different things including connecting with others, posting pictures, and consuming content. Instagram is used to post pictures for our friends to see and know how we're doing. People tailor their photos so people see the version of themself that they want other people to see. This is a great example of the looking glass self and how people perceive themselves. The looking glass self is series of reactions that people go through when trying to make up the perception they and others have of them.

Ramen is a Japanese dish that is made of broth, noodles, meat, and other toppings. This is a traditional dish made for family gatherings. I would consider Ramen as a material object that distinguishes japanese culture, food is considered as material culture. There are many foods seen in japanese culture including takoyaki, okonomiyaki, and many more.
