After the war for independence with France Haiti had to pay France a sum of 150 million. This was not for losing the war this was due to the French forcing the Haitian people into paying them for the damages they caused during the war acting as the Haitian people sufficed without casualties or damage. This sum was later lowered to 90 million still an unreasonable amount. It took Haiti 122 years to pay this debt which kept escalating due to interest. The image above is the Haiti reasoning with France.

In 2003 Haiti had the confidence to fight back against their abusers, France. Haiti demanded 21.7 billion in restitution. France responded in anger. France didn't feel the need to pay France for all that they did to Haiti. Just a year after this issue France got Aristide the person issuing the command out of their position.

Haiti fought a bloody, and long war with France. This war lasted 12 years. Haiti somehow persevered and won this war. Though Haiti won the war the world powers didn't like this idea and didn't allow Haiti's freedom. Instead Haiti had to pay a second payment resulting in a total payment of 21 billion according to Forbes. This payment was paid over many years leading to endless cycle of poverty . To this day Haiti is one of the poorest countries with 59% of people in poverty.(according to borgenproject)

By 1801, Toussaint Louverture and his Forces had expanded the revolution beyond the Haitian Borders. This act proves that Toussaint was really doing anything he could to expand his sphere of control and be rid of those colonies with slaves, of which joins his insurrection. This is significant in the sense that Toussaint's intentions of the war were not only to liberate Haiti of slavery and as a colony of France, but to expand his sphere of control by conquering territories outside of Haiti, most of which are also slave-driven.

Toussaint Loverture has been Captured by French Forces, and died in prision earlier in the same Year. Jean-Jacques Dessalines is left to pick up the pieces, and with that, the French Forces were left defeated by the end. This is significant because it would be what determines the verdict of the war, being the last major battle before January 1st, 1804, where Haiti was officially declared independent..

In the year 1947 the Haitians paid of there debt to the French for the destruction of the French's stuff during the war. This is significant because the Haitians were paying this debt for over 150 years and it ruined the Haitians economy. This is why the Haitians economy is bad today.

This rebellion inspired slaves to break away from the torture and abuse and become free. After this the Haitian slaves rebelled and won the revolution.
