We started today off by continuing with our work yesterday editing the foley that we did for the matrix scene, I feel like ours turned out good because most of the sounds were in time with what was happening in the scene and they sounded realistic, once we finished that we then re dubbed a scene from peppa pig, which involved re recording the voices from the scene ourselves and then putting them with the scene, each of these new versions were uploaded to YouTube and shown to the class. We then spent the afternoon using photoshop to create an animated background that we could possibly use for the children's e book that we will be creating, we first had to find an original image of a desert for example, which is what I chose and then change the opacity of each object in the picture after filling the object with the correct colour, I think mine turned out well considering that this was my first attempt, I also feel that my photoshop skills have improved and I now feel more confident when using it. Next time I will use these skills in order to create good visuals for my e book.

In the opening scene of the lion king it shows all the animals coming together to celebrate the birth of Simba. It starts off with the sun rising which is when the music starts, the music starts off minor and then progresses to major long the way, I feel that the music is quite effective as it starts off quite calm along with the visuals and then speeds up and becomes happier. What also makes this scene good is the fact that there isn't any speech needed to set the tone.

At the start of the day we took part in a quiz which included music from different films to test our knowledge of music which is used in media, we then looked at some famous scenes from films which included good examples of how the music complements the visuals to create an effect. In the afternoon we then had to choose a scene from a film which included music in, talk about the audio using the correct terms that we had learned before and present our ideas to the rest of the class, for this I chose to talk about the opening scene in the lion king as I felt that it set the right tone for the film. We then spent the rest of the afternoon looking at examples of children's tv show theme songs and tried to create our own using garage band. Overall I feel that I now have a better understanding of what makes a good piece of audio within media.

We started todays lesson off by continuing our work on GarageBand with Dave, he showed us how to save and record parts together to create a song and how to edit that song after we have finished recording. We then had to show what we made to the rest of the class and talk about what was good about it and how it could be improved, I feel that mine was good for a first attempt as I was experimenting so that I could get used to GarageBand. During the afternoon we drew animated characters that we could then edit using photoshop, we were then shown how to add texture to a certain part of the character to make it look more realistic, I found this task quite difficult at times however I feel that I can improve with more practise while using photoshop. Overall this lesson has been quite productive as I have learned the basics of GarageBand and have learned a new skill in photoshop which I can apply to future tasks as well,.

The e-books that I chose to cover were "hearts", "if you give a mouse a cookie", "dinosaur rap", "the whale that ate everything" and "green eggs and ham". We also had to make a questionnaire which we are going to use as primary research next week to go into a school, I didn't get time to complete this questionnaire as I tried to complete the mind maps in as much detail as possible. Overall I have a better idea as to what e-books are like and understand d the e-books sector more.

In todays lesson we learned three new techniques that we can use to improve our visuals when we have to create our e-book. First we learned how to use keyframes in Final Cut Pro X to make our characters move and other elements of the video, once we had done that we then used two different images of the same character and put them together to make it look like they were walking. We then went onto Photoshop to create a basic character using the shapes provided and then went onto After Effects CC, where we used the pin tool to add joints to the character and then move those joints to get the character to perform a certain action. At first I struggled to get used to the idea of using keyframes however I feel that I I improved as the lesson went on, I felt that using After Effects was quite easy however this is because we only had to use it for one task, so I preferred using final cut pro as I am more familiar with it. Overall I think that my editing and practical skills have improved as I am now more familiar with how to use the software and have learned many new skills.

We spent todays lesson completing primary research, which included creating our questionnaires and asking members of the public. I feel that my research was effective as I managed to ask a wide range of ages that are part of the target audience. We then had to summarise our research and talk about what we found in a short essay format. This will come to help us when we create our own e-book as we will have a better understanding of our audience and what works best. Next time I would maybe try to ask members of the target audience who apply to every age so that I could get more information.

My partner and I completed some more of the character designs on Photoshop, and decided to make the characters unique by creating them in a more round shape, as we know that other groups will not have made their characters like this, the only issue that we had was making the eyes and tusks the same size as each other, however we found that the best way to do this was by duplicating the layer and pasting it onto the other size. We then continued to work on the script so that we can record some of the character voices in one of the upcoming lessons. Overall I feel that we have been quite productive as we have almost finished the script and have almost finished all of the characters.

Today I have managed to complete another character whilst finding a quicker way to design my characters, which involves copying the image and recolouring each part, therefore I feel like I will now be able to start editing quicker than I thought I would. I also created some background music for the first scene of my e book, so that I will have more audio evidence.

They analysed every frame, talked about why the film didn't work with certain audience members. He also spoke about the significance of things that people may not notice. I feel that despite having a good amount of detail it wasn't very engaging, as he did tend to go on for quite a long time. Instead he could go into detail about the main parts of the film rather than explain the significance of smaller things within the film.

Doesn't go into much detail about the part of the film he is talking about. This one wasn't as useful due to the fact that he spoke briefly about why he liked the film, and didn't really suggest ways to improve the film. I did feel that this podcast was more engaging as he sounded more enthusiastic when talking about the film, so if he went into a bit more detail with the same tone of voice then the podcast would have been better.
