<title>Directing a film means that you are responsible for telling a story that an audience will believe, by creating a world (see Mise-en-scene) inhabited by actors, directed by you, using a screenplay/script written by a scriptwriter(s), interpreted by you, communicating meaning to an audience that you hope will laugh, cry, love or possibly hate your production. On this page you will find lots of clips to help you understand the directing process.</title>

<title>Watch this, it will help you to understand the directing process. Be careful, every director has a different style, often depending on the genre of film he/she is producing and the effect they want to have on their audience. There are many wrong ways to direct a film and there are many truly awful films out there, so there is no real rule of thumb to produce a winner, but, talent, instinct, a good script, a good cast all help.</title>

<title>Blocking a scene. What do I mean &#39;blocking&#39;. Every scene has to be planned; lit, set designed and blocked. Blocking is literally placing the actors in the &#39;space&#39;, their movements in the scene and their spacial relationships to each other - all this depends on how you plan to shoot the scene and that depends on the dramatic/emotional effect you want to have on your audience and how you have decided to tell the story, reveal the &#39;truth&#39;. (See storyboard) </title>
