They limited their freedom by not planning ahead. I realized recently the freedom of both the wise and foolish individuals changed their FUTURE freedom instead of their current freedom. They all though they were okay now and they were, it was just the future freedoms that were limited

They limited their freedom by being unprepared to have the agency to choose whatever decision desired. Because they did not have oil, they did not have the freedom to choose to follow the bridegroom. Those wise virgins had the freedom to choose to go, or not go, because they were prepared.

If we don’t prepare to meet the Lord, we won’t have that chance to live with him again, this parable shows how important it is to have our own testimony, we can’t rely on others. If we do, we limit our chances of having eternal life

Dependency on Others: When they realized they had run out of oil, the foolish virgins asked the wise virgins for some of theirs. This dependency on others instead of taking responsibility for their own needs limited their ability to act independently.
