My name is Ana Tejena, I am writing this letter because I have noticed that the teenagers in Manta are interested in superficial things like make – up, iPhones and social media like tik tok, so I’m going to tell you what is like to be a teenager in Manta.

In manta at the age of 12 kids like to meet with friends and presume their best iPhones, also they like to use the cellphones at school record videos on tik tok platform, and the other most important thing for them are the make – up for girls. Most of the time the girls make – up in classes. They don’t respect the place that where they be, the don’t care that only do it. On the other hand they spend time together watching videos and post videos in classes on tik tok. They don’t care spend time in their studies. They all have different preferences about what they like or dislikes.

I feel very astonished because I had thought that their parents had lost their authority in their home. They spent time in their smartphones and they forgot other tasks to do. I hope you’re ok, I’ve told you I had some serious problems with my students’s behavIor lately.  They are interested in doing different things like, they are becoming in terrible teens, and it is difficult to deal with them.

 

Here some common problems.  Some of them changed overnight and tend to be rebel. They consider they are mature enough to do what they want and always are turning down rules “Why so many rules?  -  I am not a baby mom!!!

Another problem is they  form strong  friendship and every weekend they have parties which last  until late in the night.  

As  a possible solution I  was considering this one;   talk to their relatives and explain  that their behavior  is disturbing them and distracting their studies, but it may have some possible disadvantages such as not listen to me  and they will continue  their rebel behavior.

I'm sure you have a better idea because of your experience dealing with terrible teens.

The technology is very important today but they don´t use correct form about it. Due to the pandemic we had to use these tools like cellphone.

In Ecuador in the pandemic, teenagers use the cellphone to receive class and new form of educations, but it wasn´t the problem, the big problem was that the students spend your time in social network, they use their cellphone 12 hours. There are many negative factors in teenagers for example excessive use of cellphone with negative attitude and feeling of anxiety and dependency on gadgets may increase the risk of anxiety and depression, use the phone during night hours and it becomes an addition and their behavior has negative psychological effect.
