This is a clear example of physical genocide.

"I still love my blackness... but until we start treating each life equally and respecting each life equally, we gotta say Black Lives Matter" the artist describes how blackness is culturally displaced in the country, an example of cultural genocide

Another aspect of genocide is biological genocide in which conditions are created to decrease birthrates. This can be seen by the segregation of black people into "ghettos".

Wilderson III was one of the founders of the philosophical school of “Afro-Pessimism”; he explains the idea that black people are in a state of "social death".

"We want what we've always wanted from the beginning of being in this f---ing country, the same right that all these other people have" Lizzo speaks on a social media interview about how black people have been treated like this since slavery. What is worse is that they are still treated like so, rendering the "abolishment of slavery" meaningless.

"It's so much deeper than politics. It's in the veins of this country ... there is racism running through its veins" She explains the situation of "social death" that Wilderson discussed perfectly. The problem is rooted to the racist past of the country, deeper than politics.

The unfortunate George Floyd incident led to a spark of protests which Lizzo calls "the first semblance of hope I’ve had in a long time"

This is an aspect of black feminism thought since it discusses the advantage males have in our world.

""Nobody seems to care about the way that black women feel" In a separate interview, the artist shows how she is a part of the black feminist movement as she talks about taking responsibility to speak up.

For example, she received backlash for her body confidence in her "Anaconda" cover art. However, just like Lizzo, this is her way of challenging society's structure of punishing women for bodily/sexual autonomy.
