We are the Berenstain Bears! In our group, we have Maddie, a junior from Maryland, Abby, a sophomore from Scranton, PA, Madison, a sophomore from Delaware County, PA, Katelyn, a sophomore from Long Island NY, and Julia, a sophomore from Bucks County, PA.

We are very excited to get started on our puppets and all try something that we have never experienced before!

Week 3 1/25/24 - Abby

Today was our first day practicing to sew! We definitely bonded over our initial struggles, and determined that when we go shopping for our supplies, we will invest in larger needles. In addition, we also talked about some of our initial ideas for our puppet show. As of right now, we are leaning towards a lesson on sharing and forgiveness.

Hopefully, our sewing skills improve overtime!

Week 4: 2/1/24- Katelyn

This week we discussed as a group what we think belonging means and represents. One of the ideas we touched up on was the "me pocket" from the reading, we all agreed that we want to use this idea in the future! Another idea of belonging we drew was children holding hands, children communicating different topics, and the idea of putting our ideas together represented by puzzle pieces. The idea of belonging was a jumpstart to brainstorming our puppet story. As a group we decided that belonging could be implemented in our puppet story, we came up with the idea to talk about breaking gender stereotypes with our puppets.

Week 5: 2/8/24 Madison

We discussed our readings this week as a group. We discussed how to build a classroom and how a classroom should change with the environment. We discussed this week's chapter Ayers reading. We also individually worked on who we wanted to be as future teachers. We looked back at other readings to find ideas or quotes to help us become the future educators we want to be.

Week 5 - Julia 02/08/2023 In class we had a lot of run beginning to work on our puppets. We watched a video on how to sew the beginning seams and then a video on an example of how we will use our puppets. We then had a lot of fun together chatting as a group and cutting out all of the papers necessary to use, to trace the pieces of felt we need for the puppet.

After cutting out the tracers, we then traced them with markers, to mark the lines to cut the shapes out. We played fun country music and relaxed while cutting. After we finished cutting the shapes out, some people began to start sewing their pieces together.

Week 6 - Madison 2/15/24

Today we worked on our paper format. We talked about the Anti-Racial, Anti-Biased theory and the constructivist theory and what we will be discussing in our paper. All of us are focusing on Constructivist theory.

Today, after figuring out which theory we were going to pick for our document, we continued to sew our puppets. We all were aiming to get the head done, and some of us started the body!

We all are starting to get the hang of sewing our puppets, and seeing how it is actually going to turn out!

This week, we learned that it is totally okay to make sewing mistakes when you have a seam ripper. This tool came in handy not once, but twice today. There will be no crying over killed puppets in the Berenstain Bears!

Today, we continued where we left off from our last class with sewing. We sewed the body and head together and some of us started sewing the mouth onto the head. We are all starting getting the hang of sewing as today we were able to sew a little faster and with less guidance. Abby was able to finish her mouth piece and then helped the group figure out how to put our mouths onto our puppets as well!

Here, we are discussing Paley's readings. We debated using creativity in our teaching and adjusting to the children in our classroom. AS future educators studying our children's thinking to grow their knowledge further and create lessons around it.

Today we are beginning to really dive into our script! We are figuring out the setting, the plot of our story, and the characters. We are spending a good chunk of today working on our script and our song

Today, we worked on our puppet show song while catching up on some sewing! We created our song to the tune: This Land Is Your Land. Our song connects to our overall lesson of anyone being allowed to use any type of toys. We are excited to sing this song in our final puppet show!

Today, each group shared their script with the rest of the class. This is a section of the song we sang to the class today during our script. After we read off our script to the class, our classmates gave us comments and suggestions. This gave us a better understanding on how our puppet show will be performed with some adjustments.

Week 10: Abby 3/23/24

This week we thought more about the details we would like to add to our puppets. For example, we talked about hair, clothes, and eyes. I ran out over the weekend to pick up some sew on wiggle eyes for everyone, and we cannot wait to see how they look on our puppets!

To start our conversations off this week, we made a list of our top 10 class practices we have learned so far. We did get a bit confused between practices and theories, however I still feel that we can refer back to this as we are writing our platform papers. Underneath each sticky note, we elaborated a bit on what these practices meant.

Today in class we assembled the styrofoam and the cardboard parts of our puppet. We worked as a team and had an assembly line and it made things go a lot more smooth and fast. Teamwork makes the dream work! It was super fun to see the puppets start to really come together.

Today we added in a bit more content for our script. We included a bit more about our puppets' home life. As it gets closer to our show, we want to make sure that our script and puppets are ready to take the big stage.

Script editing was interrupted by a random snow squall that angered many of our classmates. Good thing we were listening to Luke Combs to calm us down.

Today, we also made finishing touches to our puppets including putting on the eyes and hair! Our puppets are finally coming together and are almost done! To finish the puppets off, we just need to add some clothing.

Today we were able to write reflections down on the entirety of the semester! We are all pretty much done our puppets, and are ready to start filming our show! We have all worked very hard this semester and are excited to see the finished product!

Today we added on our final touches of the puppet starting with the hair. The hair really made the whole puppet come to life as it started to look like the characters we envisioned!

Week 13 - madison

This week we traveled to print out our puppet scripts and props! We worked collaboratively to come up with creative ideas to draw in the children or viewers of our puppet show. We went to the library to print it out and then cut out the props and planned out the week of filming and making a game plan!! We watched a few videos in class and came up with ideas and strategies to film our video efficiently!!

This week we filmed our puppet show! It was so great seeing all of our hard work this semester pay off into our video, and we had a lot of fun doing it. We are finally done with our puppets and scripts, and it has been a great semester working on them!

We had so much fun filming and editing our final show! We used I movie and made lots of fun transitions and put in funny bloopers at the end. Overall we had wide range of emotions while filming we started out stressed and then ended up laughing a lot and having fun.
