It is unlawful to carry a loaded firearm on any public street without a permit. The decisions about gun laws are made with the congress, supreme court, and the state legislature.

Laws: 

Education for All Handicapped Children Act (Public Law 94-142): Federal Law 

• In 1975 the Education for All Handicapped Children Act was passed guaranteeing every child regardless of disability their right to free and (appropriate) education with other kids without a disability. According to the text “to learn in the least restrictive environment possible.” more specifically from the law; to the maximum extent appropriate, children with disabilities, including children in public or private institutions and other care facilities, are educated with children who are not disabled. 

• Schools can’t use the excuse of not having enough teachers and resources to exclude kids with disabilities from getting an education at their school. 

• Even though this law was in place families still had to fight to get their kids into schools. 

• The number of kids with disabilities in schools increased a little after this law was passed 

• By 1990, only 1.2 percent more students with disabilities were in general education classes and resource room environments. 

• 69.2% in 1990 compared to 68% in 1977

• All individuals will feel safe, included, and respected in their working and learning environments regardless of where they come from, what they look like, their neighborhood, or how they identify. 

• Aims to build a culture by inviting the contribution and participation of all stakeholders, including those with a physical or cognitive disability, those who identify as part of the LGBTQIA+ community, and new Americans (refugees and immigrants). 

• The board is committed to creating a place where everyone's voices are heard to make their community more diverse. 

• Prioritizing Inclusion  

The Two Major Types:

Formal Equality of Opportunity- Individual, Merrit-based comparison of opportunity.

Substantive Equality - Group Equality of Outcomes

Other Types:

Fair Equality of Opportunity- Everyone has a fair chance to be the best qualified candidate.

Equality of Opportunity for Welfare- Emphasizes individual choice.

Competitive Equality of Opportunity- People compete for a good, some people's success means others fail.

Non-Competitive Equality of Opportunity- People's enjoyment of a good doesn't depend on whether others attain it.

Why does Utah let 18 year old buy a shotgun and rifle but have to be 21 to buy a handgun?

1. We need all the support that we can get for our students. Some kids need a lot more support than others, so when the funding gets cut, the students that need lighter support tend to be forgotten and lose their funding first. 

2. There will still be some funding for students that need the most support and help, but for the kids that need less support it will affect them negatively in the long run. First it will affect them physically, then it will affect them mentally and emotionally, causing them to have lower self-esteem and possibly not even want to try anymore. 

3. It is nice to find solidarity with like-minded people at effects like protests, but the most effective thing would be writing letters to government officials, being vocal, making phone calls, and continuing to support what we need to support. Showing distress to the government will show them we are serious about making changes.
