This terrorist attack is very similar to the 16th Street Baptist Church Bombing in Birmingham, Alabama.
Some similarities are the fact that these were both protests made against the original movements. The Cinema burning was against the people who were protesting the Shah and the bombing was against people fighting for civil rights. Also both of these events had the same goal: to scare people from protesting.

There are two main differences between the Cinema burning and the Church bombing. One is that the reaction from the police were way different, In Persepolis she says that the police would not let anybody inside to help rescue the victims. But this is unlike the Bombing because the Police had to help retrieve victims that were inside of the church and there were people on the streets who were helping rescue victims. Secondly there was a difference in the amount of fatalities, in the Cinema burning there were hundreds of people killed while in this Church Bombing there were only 4. But this difference in the amount of fatalities will not change the response and effects it had on the community and the two movements.

In March of 1965 protesters held a march where they would walk from Selma, Alabama to Montgomery protesting against no voters rights for African Americans. But this protest went violent quickly as the police reacted with force and beat up many protesters.

The March on Washington was the largest protest during the Civil Rights Movement when about 250,000 people protested at Washington D.C. for jobs and freedom in August of 1963. This march had many famous speakers during the Civil Rights Movement and held the famous "I Have a Dream" speech by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. This march was the turning point in the Civil Rights Movement because it is thought of to be one of the main reasons for the passing of the Civil Rights Act in 1964.

In Black Friday's case this event was in the downward leadership by the Shah while these two other events were the catalysts to other events. For Bloody Sunday, the protest led to the passing of the Voting Rights Acts. And for the March on Washington, this protest was the final act in the Civil Rights Movement at The Civil Rights Act would be passed just months after.
