One thing that left me unsatisfied was Renée's response in the second verse (as the counsellor). Half of the verse was about helping Jasmine's character regulate her emotions, but no actual advice was given. Instead in the second half of the second verse, the counsellor ends up saying "I don't know no more, I can't say no more" as if the counsellor was giving up. So what I did was rewrite the second half of the second verse to make sure there was some advice being given to make the story of the song more coherent.

In the Bridge, Jasmine sings "Take a taxi home, all alone I go, the only place that I know, the only place I feel at home" (and repeats). Melodically, this was so great to listen to and lyrically it makes some kind of sense? The only issue I had with it was that Jasmine's character felt kind of 'defeated' if that's the term for it? Especially after singing the chorus which talks about how she is still addicted to the man with the "white lies" and the "red lights". I decided that to save Abbey from having to remember more lyrics and also to give me a shot to perform a bit more and change the angle of the song, I'd write lyrics in the bridge.

The trickiest part was making something sound good, flow well and rhyme nicely. I think the hardest part was me trying to make "Toxic optimism" attempt to rhyme with "Harder sentence" which was completely stupid because I felt like I had to keep up that level of expertise throughout the song, but once I just let go and told the story how it was, the rhymes weren't perfect, but they were there and I enjoyed just writing the story without feeling like I needed to go above and beyond. And once I finished the bridge, it felt perfect. I became the counsellor that I needed to be for the girl that's been played on by this man who clearly has no respect for her. I needed to make sure she heard my two cents.

Wake up, Get up, Get out there - Lyn (Certainly has all the funk and the instrumentation is pretty close to what we had in our extravaganza, so it was relatively easy to get this song to be played live, I just wish I was a natural at making funky trumpet lines and String lines like Nick is.

Life Will Change - Lyn (Also a pretty upbeat song. Contains a lot of E Guitar, and the guitar is certainly more aggressive in this song, but I still wanted to carry that vibe into our song even if it was a bit slower. I think when Megan performed the song a bit quicker than usual at the rehearsal at S Block, I liked it because it reminded me of this song afterwards. So much so that I played it on the way back home)

The Whims of Fate - Lyn (Definitely had this song in the back of my head when I got around to rewriting the lyrics. In the game, you're in a dungeon that looks like a casino where many rich people play and the lyrics of this song definitely suggest that Lyn is asking you to listen to her as if she is conversing with you (the player/listener). Not that I wrote Jasmines lyrics for her part when we originally wrote the song, but Jasmine uses a lot of 'Possessive Determiners' using words such as 'My', 'I' & 'Me' whilst mine and Renée's part uses them also, but to direct the attention away from myself, and instead to the person who sings the chorus. I wanted to make sure my part encapsulated that. These words were mainly 'Your' & 'You'. The only time I use 'Me' is when I'm saying what the 1st character in the song should say to the troubling man she sings about.

I definitely feel like personally I could've put more effort into the project overall (Because then I wouldn't of missed the second to last bar in the bridge), but all things considered, I had fun, I think I actually sung my parts very well.

Abbey was SO suited for this part as well with last minute communication. Abbey saw that I was performing the song expressively in the last rehearsal with facial expressions, arm gestures and so forth; absolutely matched the energy I had which made it (most likely) more enjoyable for the audience to watch and much fun to sing and perform. That night would be a moment I'd want to physically relive again and again.

It was a shame that I couldn't have he guitar solo played exactly how I wanted, but Reece played it very well so I'm not even mad. I also enjoyed that Nick suggested to have the Alto Saxophone to join in on the solo to change things up a bit.

Otherwise, I have no complaints or anything else to say, the experience and practices with the orchestra were all positive 😊
