There are of course many ways to do it. It is important from several aspects for example for the student's ability to collaborate, and to increase but also to develop their thinking. Students develop an understanding of how we depend on each other to succeed and develop. His own experience is that students become more involved in school assignments when it is group work. An important thing for group work is that the teacher puts together good group constellations of students. He, himself made it so that he appointed who would be the group leader and take a little more responsibility, but then the groups themselves had to plan their work and the presentations. When assignments are given that will be important for final grades, it is important that teachers provide feedback well in advance and at the beginning of the work process in order for the feedback to be helpful to the student. If the feed back comes too late, there will be no push forward to improve which affects the grades in the end. The very way the feedback is given can be applied to the student and it´s way of learning, for the student to really understand. These can be examples that are close to the community context itself. But not only that – it's also about using a language that students understand. So the teacher can both use simpler words and give examples from the surrounding community to make it easier for students to understand. Then the teacher's own knowledge and understanding of the surrounding society becomes a prerequisite for the ability to relate academic content to practical examples. It is important that the teacher knows and is interested in what activities are going on outside the school.
