The first time I read was Marvel Comic’s ‘Secret Wars’. It was mainly pictures and it has barely any words in it so I have never been too literate and have been more surface level in my literacy but there is a little bit of sophistication in there from the vast amounts of different kinds of media I consume which keeps me literate but not very literate

I was never really into reading or writing, mainly in school. I was never good at reading in school, especially because I went to Catholic school. I was taught to read things such as scripture, which is commonly written in older language. It can be hard to understand and formulate an opinion at such a young age when being made to read things like this. I was taught how to read the Bible even while not being raised religious. Also, it felt as if I was reading just words, rather than understanding what was happening.

Captain Underpants

When I was in elementary school, I used to love these books made by Dav Pilkey named "The Adventures of Captain Underpants". The books were about a silly pair of kids who made comics about their miserable principal becoming a super hero. There was a ton of books made by the author that spanned from my years in elementary to late middle school. I was always checking them out from the library and spent many hours reading them all. These books made me want to read other types of literacy including Manga and Comics because they had that feel to them.

I got into reading and writing in two different ways. I was never into reading until recently, around a year ago, when I started reading the bible. The fact that I couldn't understand half of what was being said is what made me want to read more. I got into writing when I was younger and would journal what would happen in my life. I used to just rant until I started to learn how to write more formally.

At first, reading or writing wasn't something of importance to me but the thing that motivated me to pursue my education was seeing the difference that it made. Being able to help family members through knowledge motivates me to further my education.

My dad inspired me to read and write because he always reminded me to take the time to express myself. He would tell me to write about how I felt and reflect on the things I did, no matter how small they seemed. At first i thought it was just advice, but over time I realized that writing became a way for me to understand my thoughts and experiences better. His encouragement made me see that reading and writing are not just schoolwork, but tools to learn about myself and the world around me.

At a young age, I had to be a translator for both of my parents. Ever since then, my interest in both languages intrigued me. Mother Tongue really resonates with me because a lot of first-generation children have to translate and be mediators for their parents. I'm now fluent in both English and Spanish and use them in my day-to-day life.

The main thing that had made me to write essays would be a summer program I attended. It was a summer writing class before my first semester in college. I did writing assignments every week and a page long essay to turn in every Sunday. I would turn in all my work on time because I had to stay on campus all week, I only went home on the weekends. When I got my grade it was a better grade that I had gotten in my high school years. I got a B with a 86%. I was happy with myself knowing I can actually get good grades if I push myself to do ALL of my work on time.

As a kid I used to love going to book fairs because there was always something new rather than re-reading a book or article . My mother would always make me read for 30 min. what got me to reading and writing was when I did an essay in my spring semester. I would get assigned articles on how myself can improve on writing for future essay reference . I never like reading and writing i always thought it was boring . I never took a liking in any of it of grammar , punctuation , and on how to end a sentence .

Green Eggs and Ham, inspired me to read and write in a young age and pushed me to read for other. While it just encouraged me to read more, what really set me to write was when I wrote a story for the writing contest in elementary school and I got an award due to my work. I also had a creative writing class that always encouraged me to show my creative side and be more productive in my writing.

When i was in Elemantary school our reading level was based on how good we can read books and summarize them and we would like level up and get harder books to read. That was something that helped me read even tho i never liked reading or writing i was forced but for some reason i always did good in them but after elemantary i stopped reading because books dont capture my attention. For my major you have to learn to read blueprints maybe not the same as books but ive been working with blueprints during my summer job soo my boss would try and show me how to read them.

I never liked reading when I was young because I liked to read when there were pictures in the story. What got me into reading was the book called Captain Underpants at the time. This book helped me enjoy other books similar to it, like Diary of a Wimpy Kid, and superhero comic books. I'm still not a big reader, but my reading motivation is dedicated only to research and not entertainment because I grew out of the books that I thought were fun to read. Most of my enjoyment is TV movies or shows and video games. I would rather read a story in that type of scenario than read a book.

My final essay

This is a story about when I wrote my final essay last semester. It was the final essay where you had to give it your all. I wrote and redid it several times, and at that moment I more or less understood the structure of the essay and other details related to writing the essay. It's funny that when I first started taking this class, it was very difficult for me and it was difficult to concentrate. I hated this class. But, on the final essay, I enjoyed it and started to like it. This is because I have chosen a very good topic that is closer to me, and I really like to think about or discuss this field of activity. In conclusion, I want to emphasize that you need to take everything very easily and adjust it to yourself, as I have done in my experience.
