Watch the film carefully and comment on its technicalities like camera movement, light, mood, background music, dialogue and color.

It was a sad story so the light was dark and moody. The setting and scenery relate to the theme. The camera angle zoomed in on his face to show his facial expressions to see the difference between when he was by himself vs when he is with people. The camera also showed different point of views like when he closed his eyes and ears the screen was black and quiet. The background music was a way to show emotions that couldn't be said with dialogue. The music increased in sound as it went further in the video to show how he was evolving as a person. The dialogue was different depending on who he was with because he was very expressive with his friends but very quiet and used touch to talk to the blind and deaf guy. The text messages showed how he changed because he could have left when he received a text but chose to stay with the guy.

I thought the background music made the film a little bittersweet. The lighting was mostly dark. I don't know if it was intentional, but I thought that the fact that it was mostly dark and the only sources of light were streetlights could be compared to the blind man being in the dark for most of the time but having brief moments of light. In the film, his light was the young man.

TEAL

In the short film Feeling through there are many techniques used by the director to help portray the story. First of all, at the beginning of the film the colors were very dark and muted. This use of color usually evokes sadness or darkness in someone's life. Towards the end of the film, the lighting started getting brighter signifying Tereek finding himself on this journey. Secondly, the camera seemed like it was handheld which played into the feeling of the story feeling more relatable to the audience and less artificial and put together. Also, the camera angles in the beginning were very zoomed in on his face which highlighted and emphasized how worried he was on only himself. Towards the end of the film he started sharing the frame with Artie which shows him letting people into his life by doing good which in return helped him understand why life is worth living. There's a consistence theme we see here and we thinking it's giving back/paying it forward since we saw Tereek steal money from him but then ended up giving it to a homeless man.

The colors were very dark because it was nighttime. It has a lonely mood with the main character looking for a place to stay the night. The music tended to be ambient but would often increase when the main character was thinking. The camera was mostly stationary as it was more focused on the character feelings than actions. The dialogue was mostly no verbal.
