Typical Disney genre - happy, fantasy music - always show the happy parts at the beginning and end -- draws the audience in.

Semantic:
Genie, flying carpets, 'magic' = FANTASY & the lamp as a prop enhances this

Aladdin & Jasmine = Romance

Will Smith = 'make me a prince' - physically makes a prince

Typical narrative structure - from disequilibrium to new equilibrium. New equilibrium is portrayed by the 'a whole new world' soundtrack. (THE MOST ICONIC SONG).

Dramatic scenes - loud DUN DUN when showing characters - slows down the pace when focusing on Aladdin & Jasmine.
-Fast paced running scenes, also enhance the dramatic/action genre.

Very colourful setting and palette - until the villain is shown, which is when the colour becomes much darker and duller. Syntactic - binary oppositions (good/bad)

Rich vs. poor - Aladdin vs. Jasmine.

Direct recreation of original scenes - The flying carpet - 'Do you trust me?'

Trailers: multiple trailers that have been released- they tend to focus on separate characters.

Teaser trailers -
