He is a good leader because he was able to free slaves. He had enough courage and integrity to do it when no one else was.
I think one quality that makes someone a bad leader is them not being to react or adapt to a problem in their life. I also think another one is being inconsistent with the choices that they make.

I just admired the fact that he overcame being a conscientious objector and how he dealt with the conflicts and judgement that came with choosing to not pick up a rifle and take another human beings life especially back in those days in time were violence and killing wasn't a bother to many people even though it left so many veterans with (ptsd).
