Survey research is typically defined as "the collection of information from a sample of individuals through their responses to questions" (Ponto, 2015). Surveys can be effective in utilizing both qualitative and quantitative research methods, such as open-ended questions and numerically scored items on questionnaires, or a combination of the two, like mixed methods (Ponto, 2015). Surveys are frequently employed in social and psychological research because they are commonly used to describe and research human behavior (Ponto, 2015). Surveys allow for empirical data, easily generalizable data, and can produce a large amount of data in a timely manner at a fairly low cost (Kelley et al., 2003). However, it is needless to say that some difficulties may arise while conducting survey research, this includes, having a lack of details and depth being covered, as well as difficulty securing a high response rate (Kelley et al., 2003).
