He explored many areas but the one he is most known for was his discovery of Florida. He named it that because it reminded him of flowers. Juan Ponce de León was able to conquer islands for the Spanish such as a Native American island that was littered with Gold. He went back to Florida to try to colonize there but was immediately shot down upon arrival. He wanted to explore the middle of Florida but couldn't because they were in constant attack from the Native Americans.
