My name is Megan Medcalf, and I am a senior in college attending Arizona State University. Right now, I am a part of COM 230 at Rio Salado.

Reflective thinking is a tremendous tool to solve a problem that includes five steps. This thinking process allows decisions to be made by analyzing options to ensure that as many factors as possible can be considered. By using reflective thinking, I was able to come up with a solution for Waking Up, Inc.'s meeting dilemma.

Step 1. Identify and Define the Problem

Identifying a problem is the most important step to reaching a solution. Particularly, we must focus on the actual problem, and not the symptoms (Rio Salado, 2020). Because Waking Up Inc. is a small company, it is important to solve problems as efficiently, smartly, and budget-friendly as possible.

For Waking Up, Inc., the problem is simple: determine what online media resource will provide the best meeting space.

Step 2: Analyze the Problem

I will be using a fishbone diagram to define this problem. The overall causes that I identified are: timing, flexibility, and employees.

Essentially, the cons of face-to-face meetings warrant the need for a virtual meeting space.

By making a pros/cons chart for each solution, I was able to conclude that Skype is the ideal choice for hosting virtual meetings within Waking Up, Inc. The cons of the application are manageable, whereas the cons of Facebook are a little more severe. Primarily, Facebook is associated with life outside of work, and it is susceptible to more distractions.
