In the context of the poem, we can control our fate, and the speaker suggests this is a good manner. In the text it states, “Claim that cloud with the silver lining. Our job, if you ask me, is to follow it. See where it heads” (Grimes 1). What this quote means is that we should follow our path. This is significant because when we follow something it usually means to follow our own beliefs, do what you believe is right, and when you have set this path, now all you have to do is follow it and see where it leads you. This helps us because it shows us that we should become more mature and prepared for whatever is coming our way. Based on experience I can agree with author that when we can take control of our fate when we follow our heart (follow our path), because I have always tried to be the best in everything, kind growing up especially is elementary school, but after I saw that this wasn’t the path for me this was the paths ny parents wanted me to talk, I decided to follow my heart and accept the truth and I set a new path for myself that I was comfortable with and that was right from me, that allowed me to grow as a person.
