Countries that suffer from diseases of poverty are generally LICs (Lower income countries). These countries, or rather the people within the country, suffer from these diseases because of various factors, one being the poor economy they live in. A poor economy results in a country with a low health care system, a consequence of this would be the fact that people who have fallen ill are unable to receive proper medical care. This results in a higher mortality rate as well as higher chance of spread of infection because of poor facilities available.

Additionally, poor social conditions also plays a role in allowing these diseases to thrive. The social conditions, especially in LICs, will have cramped and confined housing. This assists the spread of disease from one individual to another.
