I'm working toward my 2 year Business Management Degree. My long-term goal is to open up my own successful business, and college seems to be the best rout so far. Hello! My name is Dakota. This is my first year at NC State. I am 22 years old and I am getting my associates degree in accounting. I am from Galion and went to Pioneer CTC for Performing Arts and Horticulture. I plan on transferring from NC State to BGSU in Fall 2020 to join the Cedar Fair Resort and Attraction Management program BG and Cedar Fair are creating. I have worked at Cedar Point for the past two years as a ride operator and really want to pursue higher level management within the Cedar Fair company and this program will help get me there. I have previously attended college back in 2016 at Ashland University, but I left after my first semester and started up again here at NC State in 2019. I do not know if I will stay working at Cedar Point or if, after I get this degree, I will move on to another of the 13 Cedar Fair parks, or try for Six Flags or Disney. The rides in the picture are Maverick, Steel Vengeance, Gemini, Mine Ride and strapped into the flightsuit of Frontier Fling the parks Skycoaster. By far my favorite ride I have worked.

Hi there, my name is Justin McDaniel and these next few paragraphs I will try to sum up years of my life. This is my first semester at North Central. I was born and raised in Galion, Ohio. I was born in August and will be turning 27 this upcoming year. I graduated from Galion High School in 2012. Straight out of high school I joined the Air National Guard as a firefighter. I was in school at Ohio State University for engineering and received my associates degree in Engineering and Fire Science. As being in the Air Guard has made it very hard to complete a college degree with deployments and drills it has given me ample opportunities to travel the world.

So far, I have been to Kuwait, Jordan, Korea, the Netherlands and Germany. Amsterdam by far was my favorite. Deployments are hard because I’m away from large and loud family but it is so unique to get to experience other cultures and diverse backgrounds. When I’m not overseas, I am a full time firefighter. When I'm off work there I work as an electrician, My hobbies include working on my house and spending time with friends and family.

My legal name is atrocious. It's awful. I dislike it and most people I meet cant even pronounce it. Which is why I always formally introduce myself as "Jay" in accordance with my middle name. I was born and raised for 10 years in Mansfield, and then I moved to a little town southeast of Toledo, Ohio. It was there where I decided to pursue an Accounting degree for several reasons including job security, having family that was able to assist with my degree, the fact that my other chosen career was to be an English teacher, and that I dislike children, and finally to do with the influence of my business instructor. The term "influence', here, could be used interchangeably with the phrase "crippling peer pressure".

Three facts about me. I have two purebred beagles. One of them is quite dumb, and the other is quite mean. So I didn't exactly win the lottery in the pet department, however, I still love them, and on account of the fact that neither of them has bitten me yet, I'm forced to assume they love me, too. According to most others I have a very, very dry, sarcastic, and dark sense of humor. I'm also a terrible introvert, which means I enjoy activities like reading, writing, drawing, listening to music, staring off into nothingness in my windowless basement bedroom, and bickering with my significant other. Don't tell her I said that. It's a joke I promise.

On a serious note I quite enjoy school itself. I find more often than not that it's people that tend to sour the experience for me. However, I know very well this is college and not high school, so I am hopeful that I won't have to worry about any of those sorts of disruptions. As far as subjects go, I'm one of those special little weirdos that enjoys Mathematics and English at the same time. A proper unicorn. Anyways. A pleasure to be learning with you all and what have you. Hope perhaps that some of this wee introduction gives you a laugh.

Hi!!! My name is Shelby. I’m 19 and I started attending NCSC when I was a senior in high school. At first I was a prehealth major but I just switched to business management. Hello, hello!!! My name is Angela and I am 40 years old (yes, I know...SUPER old!!). This is my 2nd semester back at NCSC after taking a 20 year hiatus after becoming pregnant with my first daughter. The cool thing is that she and I are now both attending college together, although she got a full ride scholarship to Indiana to play basketball! I have 3 daughters total, ages 20, 12 and 7. My oldest reminds me everyday that I could have been done raising kids by now had I stopped with her, however, I then have to quickly remind her that at 20 years of age, I spend more time having to take care of her than I do my little ones! :) I am married to the most amazing man in the world and we actually celebrate our 5 year anniversary tomorrow! Between that I have few times to relax and enjoy hobbies, but one thing I love to do is go on long distance motorcycle rides with my husband. This August we got to go to Sturgis, SD to the largest motorcycle rally in the country and travel around SD and visit national parks, landmarks, and monuments all on two wheels. It has been a dream of mine to go to this rally since I was 16 and it was so wonderful to be able to experience with my husband who has never been there.

I have been in management for the past 8 years, working my way up in the restaurant world. After ten years, starting as a host and growing into General Manager, I learned everything I thought I needed in the management world. The schedule became too difficult to do with, at the time, three young kids. Three years ago, I decided to take my skills into business, with a local staffing company; the typical corporate “9-5” job. After a year, I was promoted to Branch Manager, and I am currently an On-Site Staffing Manager.

Since I was a little girl, it has been my dream to open my own company. Which I why I returned to school; to refine my skills. My goal for this class is just that, refining my writing and technical skills. Understanding that I will have clients who require quick and detailed responses, my goal is to strengthen my ability to give future clients the answers they are looking for. Learning how to research will only grow my clientele. The life of staffing is ‘selling from the desk,’ as in getting to know both sides; the job versus the candidate interested in the job. Arguing or convincing why this is the best fit, is every day with my job. I speak to many people, all day, every day. I would like to gain the technical Microsoft Word and Excel skills and to have full understanding of all processes.

My hobbies include hauling children to sporting events, packing cute Bento lunch boxes, and brainstorming ideas on what my future small business looks like. My children are my priority and I spend all my free time with them. My oldest is going into 4^th grade, my youngest is two years old. I did not think I had enough on my plate, so we also have a one-year-old St. Bernard to top the cake.

I went to college back in 2010 to 2013 for a Music Performance Degree but after a few years I wasn't sure if it was right for me. It seems that I would have to go into teaching if I wanted to have a steady job. Fast forward to now, I currently work at Stoneridge in the materials department (shipping and recieving). I hope that getting a Business degree would help me out with different goals I have for myself in life. Between my boyfriend and I, we have four grown boys that have all flown the coop and doing well on their own. We enjoy spending time with our Cane Corso, Vincent Tito aka: Vinnie T, riding our harleys (yes, I ride mine own), and spending time with our grandson, boys and our friends.

Then earned my bachelor's degree in business and psychology at Ohio University. So... why am I back? That's a fair question. I was accepted into the MBA program at OU this year, but after weighing the costs and my age I didn't find it a valuable payoff.
