You did such a wonderful thing in demonstrating how to make the students the leaders and directors of learning. Truly a special snapshot into a classroom I would hope to have been in. It wasn't just an activity, but a dedicated process that led to newer, deeper exploration of writing. I can;t wait to hear about how you use this method in other subjects, as well!
I do wonder how this might look in a high school math class. Building that inquiry feels harder with freshman, but I love how you wove that first grade magic into your classroom!

Your students are going to be very well prepared for what I'm doing when they hit the eleventh and twelfth grade. I think when we're working with "mentor texts," the choice of that text is literally half the battle, and the rest - if you've chosen wisely - almost plans itself. Thank you!
