How do we find out information about the characters? Make sure you include the title of the story and your name. You need to discuss what you think about the characters and what in the story has made you think this. Use specific examples from the story.

In this story, all the the information is gathered by reading John Boy’s letters home. Throughout the letters, John’s change in personality can be seen in the changes he makes when writing his letters overtime. An example: In the first letter John seems worried in whichever place he is and puts a lot of details in his letter. One of his few last letters, however, show that he is so occupied with his new life that he almost has no time to write letters back to his family. I think this is a very good way to express a character. John also eventually stopped mentioning Sue Ellen in his letters, making me wonder what happened with their, possible, relationship.

- I wrote this before we established that we were doing the activity as a class
